Stays together...

So on Friday, I had everything packed up to go riding at the Bong recreation area in Kenosha.  Borrowed another 80 from the shop, so we all had bikes (me on my 450, Daughter Tori on her XR-100, Son Queue on his XR-80, and Wife Jennifer on her XR-80)

Set out around 10am, got there and found out that the ATV/Dirt bike trails were closed on Sat.  Really sucked, but we went home.  I did all my Sun work for the rest of the day & we tried again on Sun.

Got there around 11:30, and the beginner loop and one other loop was open (they have 3 loops plus the beginner section).  The kids & wife rode in the beginner section for an hour or so.  It is pretty cool.  It's about a 3 acre section which has different paths that lead over different terrain (whoops, mud, etc).

I went out on the one open loop which was GREAT.  A lot of different terrain, big whoops, tons of mud (which could be avoided if you wanted to), loose rocks, banked corners etc. (just no big jumps).  Very cool.  It's like a 2 mile loop.

I came back and took Tori out on the loop.  She did good.  It was tough riding the 450 with her on her little bike though.

When I came back, I took Tori's 100 and then ran Jen & Queue through the loop.  They did great & had a good time...

Fast forward an hour or so, and they opened a second loop.  I went on it (it joins the first loop, and is longer than the 1st, so the total distance is probably 5-6 miles).  It was significantly more difficult than the 1st loop.  Jen & Queue wanted to go, so I took them around it.  It was about 30+ mins for us as Jen wiped out a couple times & Queue did too.  Lots of mud that couldn't be avoided, so they had problems.  But it didn't dampen anyone's spirits.

I took them back to the beginner section, and then went back out myself and did 3 laps around the two loops.  Came back and was DEAD tired.

We were all shot by the end of the day.  Only out for about 4 hours, but it was non-stop riding the whole time.  Dusty as HELL, and we were all filthy dusty & muddy, but it was a BLAST.  Everyone loved it.  Even the wife, who is getting MUCH better at riding (and now has a healthy respect for how sore I get on race weekends)...

Man am I sore, but that was SUCH a good time...  That place is too cool though.  Very challenging for the new rider, and pretty friendly.

Sounds about like our weekend. A friend let me borrow his YZ125, so I had that lent a friend of mine my CR80 Expert, my wife had her CR80 and little guy had his pw50. Did the oval area, he went on the little track and we all rode together lots of cool stuff to do.

This was down at Buffalo Range, but family riding is definitely fun especially when I need a break and ask my 6yr old if he's ready and he says "No I wanted to keep riding" LOL

We've been meaning to check out the bong rec area, I think Ethan would like something that is longer so he's not just going around and around. The trails down there his little PW wouldn't even make it through not even the easiest ones.

lbk, there were lots of kids on tiny bikes on the trails.  Even the larger trails.  The biggest concern I had was getting pasted by some kid on a ripping 2-stroke, but everybody was really cool.  There are ample places to pass people, so it was nice.

The cost at Bong for WI residents is $5 for the park pass, and $4 for each rider over 16.

Season passes are $20 for the park, and $15 for each rider over 16...

$50 for unlimited access...  Suddenly my ~$4000 property taxes seem worth while...

Cool we'll have to check that out, it's the closest place too, there are just some issues with out of state adventures so we'll have to plan ahead of time. Thanks for the info.
