OK, For those with SVs:
I have an SV.
I have racetech .80 springs in it.
I have the stock shock on it now.
I have a GSXR shock.
I weigh 170. Many say 150 lbs is the magic # for the SV w/ a GSXR shock before a re-spring/revalve.

I don't mind a softish ride. I can't afford to get a shock re-done. Should I keep the stocker in there for racing, or go with the Gixxer shock?

Thanx for those answering all my questions! I'll see you all in April for my first season.

If you have a fully adjustable GSXR shock that fits on your SV I would put it on.  The stock SV shock is designed to give a buick type ride and won't help you any while at race pace.

if you can get the proper sag with the gsxr shock (if the spring is anywhere close, or you can swap it for the spring on the stock shock) then use the gsxr shock.  you gain adjustability.  it will be better than the stocker, but not as good as a penske, ohlins or fox.
