Actually, I didn't mean it to turn into a discussion Tez's riding ability.  Just thought someone here who actually knows the story (Ike, etc.) could give them the real details of the relationship so they aren't speculating.   Like someone thought he was from California, etc.  ;)

Hi Kris. We're all pretty smart and we figured it out.  ;) Most of the folks over there weren't really slammin' Tez. Just a little curiosity. You go pro and we'll have your back too! ;) ;D

I've probably talked to Tez more than most about how the season has been.  For one, his enthusiasm hasn't waned.  He told me he chose Supersport/stock because they were the most competitive classes.  He knew he would struggle, but accepted the challenge and has qualified at every round.  For just learning tracks for the first time, that says a lot about his talent.  The fact that he is finishing in the lower part of the field says a lot about the depth of talent.  Many people would have quit a long time ago, but Tez knows he and his team are bringing new light to the AMA.  That's very evident in the fans that are constantly crowding his pit.

In time, and when he is truly 100% healthy, we'll really see where his talent will take him, and I will  be there to support him, and other privateers like him.

I'll be doing good to get white plates next year.   Thanks though.  :P ;D

Hey Monsta. I agree. The folks who "get it", get it. I'm glad to hear that Tez is in good spirits. I was just thinkin' about calling him the other day after Mid-Ohio to see if he needed a pep talk.

Kris, all you need is a measly 750 points!  ;D

I throw in my perspective.

First, if you have an expert license, well, you're basically a pro.  You may not be able to compete at that level (AMA) but you have the opportunity to try.

Through my grape vine, I heard some things happening and speculated upon what would happen.

First, great deal for Tez.  I have raced with him:  he's beat me, I've beat him.  I recognize some of the things he does right and what he does struggle with.  I'm not a know it all, but I've been around this sport competing every year since 1987.  I learned a lot from trying to complete a task.  I'm certainly not gifted.  This stuff has always been hard.  There are faster riders.

So, here's my take.

Tez has been placed in the opportunity to have some things supplied to him.  He has to apply his ability.  Everything is basically new, so you don't necessarily end up being confident about it all.  Additionally, the structure is there to give him some things that he needs...but he doesn't have a big or small name riding coach there telling him that he needs to do one thing or another.  When I was doing a lot of AMA stuff, I could always go back to my guy, Dale Quarterley.  He always took some time to go watch something I did someplace and then if I had a question he knew how to answer it.  Might be related to how I was doing things and might have been related to my state of mind.

That was my job last year with Safety First Racing.  We didn't have data aquision, so I would try to glean some info from the guys, speculate on the problem, try to make changes to the bike, or the rider.  Sometimes, you've got to ride with a smile...you're certainly payin' a lot of money for the opportunity to ride, so have fun...

I was hoping to see some changes in Tez's riding that would be condusive to his going faster.  I want to see someone helping him do better, going faster.

As for the WERA guys whining...

Monday evening after MAM, Robbie Jensen and I were talking.  Hey, he made, what, $120k last year racing for contingency money.

Anyway, I made the comment that I should pick up the pace and run with him, which is how it works.  I could make some cash.  He got mildly pumped up...I saw that and said, "Hey, it's my responsibility to pick it up and run the faster pace.  All I have to do is come and take the money...if I can.  It is there for the taking.  All I have to do it take it from you...at the top of your game."

The WERA guys are in the same boat.  I don't think any of them are running AMA, which WERA is very closely associated with, so they become the whinny internet freaks that Jim of 4&6 was talking about on the Dunlop tire post.  It's very easy to speculate about something that you don't do or haven't done.

California guy or not...LOL!...Tez is doing the best that he can right now.  I think with some different input on some things, he could do better.  Regardless, it's great.

You mean its not necessary to have someone check your inseam when all you're getting done is a sleeve length adjustment?  ;D ;D ;D
