Ok, so the schedule posted on the CCS site does not match at all what I was told in person recently (surprise surprise). Also, it's a whole different weekend than was originally published! Can someone clear this up who actually knows for sure?

Issue 1: Old date was Sept 24-26. New date is Sept 17-19. Which is right???

Issue 2: I was told CCS would not be racing on Sunday at all because Sunday was for Formula USA. The schedule online has CCS races Friday, Saturday and Sunday. WTF is right?

Question 1: I assume as an amateur, the qualifying on Saturday does not apply to me (same as with other CCS rounds). Being that it's a national, I thought I'd confirm this. Does it apply to me?

Question 2: I was told registration would actually open the night before (Thur night). Is that true?

Last question...does anyone know if they're still planning to run the old configuration in the clockwise direction (as they stated at the end of the last races at Vegas)?

I might be able to help w/ a couple of things.
I do know that the races are on the new date of 9-17 thru 9-19. And as for track configuration I think that is still up in the air w/ the decision to be made the week of the races. But I could be wrong  ;D Hope this helps.....

Thanks. That helps. Do you have any idea if the schedule of events for that weekend is accurate?

I did notice that there was only one Unlimited Supersport.  It was on Saturday and none on Sunday.  This could be an indicator that the schedule is wrong.....or not.   :-/

Schedule appears right according to what I have been told.

No am qualifying except for FUSA thunderbike

Registration normally is open night before first day of racing for FUSA races. 3-5 for team owners then 5-~7 for all FUSA and CCS racers. It is normally at the track; Road America is only exception to this I know of.

Track config I don't know never been there

ULSS runs friday and sat

As far as I know we'll run the old clockwise config, and that would be fine with me.  I liked last year's configuration much better (more passing oppertunities, less horsepower advantage).  I'm pretty sure Randy won't run the config we ran in May unless the fence on the south side was moved by LVMS (doubt it, it would eat into the circle track paddock) or maybe air-fenced.  From what I've heard the new section to the north of the track was a waste of pavement, but maybe LVMS would fix that too (doubt it).

Maybe Corey will poke his head in and give us a little insight...

I guess I'm really just hoping for more confirmation of the schedule as it impacts time off work, scheduling travel, etc. Any last minute changes make things hard/impossible.

I am trying to work and find out some of the answers to your questions (I have to take vacation too!) amnd will post them on a seperate post as I get them.  I do know this- LVMS has put a real PA in at the Classic Course!  Kudos to the track personnel and to the CCS/FUSA person who demanded the PA be up and running.  No more riding around on a scooter with a bullhorn (you know how stupid that feels?) or screaming until my voice is gone, by Saturday afternoon.  As far as track configuration- I willnot speculate as to which way and how until I have solid answers but I heard through the grape (gripe?) vine that the WERA National ( National- funny) ran the north end and the pavement really sucked , they could have called to find that out from us.  I have heard that the Freddie Spencer school has voiced a concern over this as well and can only assume it will get fixed as his school is a large reason they paved it in the first place.  I would prefer to see the clockwise direction run without the top end as safety-and the alterations'/use of barriers would make the North end a real pain and probably not real safe.  We'll see.  If you have suggestions based on real things and not blatant opinion please contact me.  I have talked with Heidi and she is going to confirm whether or not we will have Thursday sign-up.  She would like to I think it is a matter of if we have the track's permission to do so.  Like I said- I will post answers (not guesses like I have done here) on a seperate post as I have them.  Now I must go to sleep,I have ot get up early and do my Lance Armstrong imitation.  Too bad Phoenix looks nothing like France.

We ran the new pavement  with the old direction while running with "another" group out there a few months ago.

The pavement in the new section was SO bad, it wasnt worth running over.

Big steps in the pavement, rough transitions between old and new, 1-2 FOOT high undulations, holes, patches, and sharp square edge bumps.

The director of LVMS was there to see how we liked it, and when we told him that it was too bumpy to run, his answer was "there arent any bumps out there!"

We bent a front wheel there without running off the track, hows THAT for big transistional bumps.

I think that running in the same configuration as we did last year, with the same turn one, is the safest way to go, with the most run off. Going around that big back sweeper backwards is inviting another incident like what happened to Will Eikenberry...

Are they going to do something to the fence in turn four (old way)???

You know, the one I ran into.
