I am doing my first race of the 2004 season and forgot about the number on the side of my helmet. I don't have time to visit my vinyl buddy, so can I just use a paint marker and write it on? Can I just wear my military dogtags instead?  :P

Yeah, you can just pain it on.  I'd take some duct tape, and just write on that as a short term fix instead of painting the helmet though  :-/  As long as they can identify which body goes with which bike in a multibike crash, they don't care.  That's what I did at the track. Used a black magic marker and some white duct tape.  8)  ghetto fabulous  ;D

I forgot to at my first race as well this year.  Tech just put a small plain white sticker on my helmet and wrote my number on that with a sharpie.  I'm using it this weekend too.
