Any GOOD reason for control lever length?

Thanks Nate!

Well...the only thing it says in the manual is that the levers have to have "ball ends" that are a minimum of 0.5 inch diameter.  Isn't much there for tech to disput as long as you meet those criteria!

I hold my bars at the end of the grips for more leverage.  I want everything to be easy.  So, the lever needs to get out to where my hands are at.

I have actually had part of my hand rest on the bar end...

For cable actuated clutches if you want a short lever just get a MX lever, the nice ball bearing style are even better.  I currently have a MSR MX lever and perch on my R6, but I prefer the stock length one for that bike.  On the brake I've never needed the stock length lever.

Back in my dirt bike days I would always drill 3 small holes (1/16 or so) in the lever and inch or so from the end to add a stress riser so the lever would break there as opposed to the perch/MC.  I've seen some Brembo stuff that has notches cast into the levers for the same purpose.

On my motard I have a shorty lever on my Brembo radial master, works awesome.  I also have handgaurds on the bike to save the lever/MC.

The longer the better. ;) Unless you have a powerful piston to make better use of your stubby.
Stumpy has a pretty trick set-up on his RR.

I set my levers more mid-line on the bar itself...
the bar-end is about 1" further out. You could try that. I also get better leverage in doing so.

I'm broke. Just thought that I would share.
I want to fit in. ;D

Yep,
Called my buddy Sete and he sent me a set of his spares, they just happen to fit the RR. Very trick!

I run my clipons out pretty wide-then I get more leverage at the bars, plus I can run my mc more inboard so I only pull at the end of the lever.  That helped my braking abilities tremendously.

I know in a mag once I saw a bike that had levers that hinged up so they naturally were in the regular location, but when you crashed they should not break...
