Is there a posting guide available that outlines what is an acceptable post and what is not an acceptable post?  
Is it determined by the content or by the poster?
Is it determined by how many "complaints" are made?
What determines a post from being simply deleted Vs. just being "locked"?  

Is it just one persons personal feelings towards certain posters and content.

Bingo, I think that's it.

Personally, I think Dawn should just let the threads go and let us talk about whatever.. It's better to keep it in 1 thread than see 2-3 more popup b/c it was removed or locked.

OH ok.. in the basic 'disclaimer' statement when you sign up/register on the forum (which comes with most all BBS software) it says...

"We have the rights to remove objectionable content, within a reasonable time frame, if we determine that removal is necessary. This is a manual process, however, so please realize that we may not be able to remove or edit particular messages immediately. This policy goes for member profile information as well."

This is a good point. Dawn, you may want to come up with a Forum FAQ and sticky it to the top of the general section. Just a thought.

My observation is that by the time a post is locked (which, fortunately, has only happened occasionally here) most listers welcome it.  I don't think Dawn or anyone else is pulling them too quick.

Some boards wait until the topic is so cluttered with insults and redundant, pointless drivel that everyone's annoyed and bored to tears.

Or we could all try to: Not be insulting, vulgar, or crude.  Keep the subject mostly about bikes, fixing bikes, racing bikes, and bikes and bike stuff or anything remotely related to bikes.  If someone is who you consider a liar/blowhard- leave them alone and let others figure it out on their own.  If someone is a crook- please let us know.  Stop guessing if you have no clue to the answer.  Blow off steam- but do it with style (not whining like a small child) and offer a suggestion for reapir of the situation with the rant.  I think if we just showed a little common courtesy here, we would not need more board "government" to keep us in line.

I try to behave.  I"ll talk the occasional B.S., just for the sake of talking crap, but usually I'm just screwing around.  We need more emoticons so people can know exaactly what you mean when type something.  We need that guy poking the other guy with a stick, so that way someone knows when your just messing with them.   ;D  Other than that, we seriously need an ignore button. I've been trying to avoid a certian individual, but every time I try to walk away, I get pulled right back in.  I have no will power  :-[
