That's right.  Remember, it can ALWAYS be worse.

GSXR RACER MIKE

Hey Chris, If it makes you feel any better I have had some negative things happening too. For example this last event at MAM was my 1st time back on the track since I crashed at BFR and it started off bad by me not leaving Rockford Illinois till 8:30pm Saturday night, I shredded a tire on my trailer just outside of the quad cities, got about 2 or 3 hours sleep in my truck, felt awful all day at the track, lost the key to my truck toward the end of the day when my key ring broke (luckily I had a spare with me), then I shredded another tire on my trailer near the toll booth on I-88 in Illinois.

It seems as though this year isn't turning out to be any better for me than last year, but I keep pushing on, even if I am dead last. I figure it's got to get better sometime!  :)

I know how you feel about racing withdrawl... its either a unexpected bill or a family that demands to have food on the table that makes it hard to make it out on the track. Thats why I started to corner work years ago...I know its not the same thing as racing but atleast your up close and personal with all of the racing and you still get to hang out at the track. Give you time to get your stuff together and prepare to go racing again.........

I know.  When the hospital told me how much it would cost to treat Rusty, I said "Do you know how many sets of TIRES that is?!"

When we got home from the last Blackhawk, I noticed one of my 4-year-old cats, wasn't feeling well.  He'd stopped eating and developed hepatic lipidosis ("fatty liver disease").  Don't know why.  My vet referred him to a specialist, he was hospitalized but despite the best medical care, he died on 6/10.  Because he was so young (and otherwise healthy) I felt I needed to do everything possible to save him.

Two weeks later, I came home to find that his brother Sanders had gone stone BLIND.  Vet referred him to a neurologist.  His initial blood work indicated his liver values were off the charts.  I thought "Oh God, not AGAIN!".  He spent a week in the hospital receiving IV fluids, antibiotics, steroids and phenobarbital.  His liver is now back to normal.  He's home now, we're continuing to administer phenobarbital and prednisone for the swelling/abnormal brain activity... his vision is slowly returning and every day he becomes a little more "normal".

I guess I love my cats like most people love their human children.  Can you say "pet health insurance"?  LOL

Robb - They still have Test 'n' Tune on Wednesday nights... you can bring whatever you want up there but they give the Harleys priority.  I hope I can work Blackhawk but won't know until I get there.

Hey K3,

Here is an anecdote with the other side of the story.

You know very well that last year was a bad year for me. I blew up 5 motors, couldn't get more than 1 to 2 days of riding out of each. I was getting desperate trying to figure out what was wrong and going broke as well. It was really depressing sitting at the track after having an engine expire. All the while, my friends were having fun riding and coming back in and bench racing. It was starting to really suck since the year before I had done something like 15 weekends of racing and that year I could not get any racing done at all. Once winter started, it got even more depressing since now racing season was over and I didn't get to ride much.

Well, this year things have turned around 180 degrees! The bike is running well, I am getting lots of track time, having a blast riding and hanging out at the track with a lot of my friends once again and I am currently 8th overall in points! Remember what I told you late last year, it's the crappy years that make the good years stand out! Keep your chin up and remember that things will get better! People like you are hard to keep down! You will rebound better than ever and forget about the problems that happened in the past.

Now, on a different subject, where the hell is that picture?

Thanks. guys!  I'm feeling the luv...  I guess a big part of it is that I miss you all so much.  Racing has been such an obsession for me that I really don't have many friends outside the CCS circle.  With so much going wrong in my regular life, I look for racing to escape and feel good about myself.  Being deprived of that has made me one seriously moody hombre.
Edgar?  I blew 5 engines last year too!  It's gone from worse to worst for me.  But your comments in this thread probably mean the most to me, because I love/hate you more than anyone else I've raced against!  Thanks!
The frame was snapped, the #3 rod was dangling from a hole in the cases, and what was left had been consumed by fire.  I said, "Hey, we've got all night!"

Chris,

Any time you want to come play on a turn with your brothers and sisters at MARRC just let me know. I'll make sure you're on the gate list.
