QuoteNot fighting is loosing.

Tell that to Mahatma Gahndi, Martin Luther King, Mother Teresa, the Dali Lama, or Thitch Naht Hahn.

Fighting does not have to mean violence or war. Just remember, this administration is setting up how our military capitives will be treated in the future through their policy.

Fighting can mean standing up for what you believe in, holding firm to your values and ethics.

Abortion is bad, but I guess sending the under classes to war for oil is post-abortion, which is ok since these people have not proven themselves worthy in the Bush Elitist point of view. Also, the kid of "questionable color" robbing the mini-mart should get 30 years in prison for making a bad choice when he's in his early 20s, but a full blown CEO of a company can rob and squander billions of dollars in investors retirement funds and get off with just 14 months in prison, because he can afford good lawyers. Well, he is a useful member of society. Besides, he's white.

Oh yeah, my daughter is in the military, my father, uncles, father in law, grandfathers and cousins were in the military, some injured or killed.  My one Grandfather was a cop killed in the line of duty.

I'm proud of my family for their generous service to this country. I also believe that this administration has not made the best choices for this country as a nation, as a world citizen and as the most powerful entity on the planet. Our resources are stretched, our economy is in a tenuous place, and the people are complacent. It's not American to silence opposing views as this administration has done. Think about that.

Now GUESS who I might be voting for. Oh yeah, I do vote. With information from a variety of sources on all issues. That source is not Fox news. I vote every election, even if they are running for head garbage collector.

You don't have to agree with me, but if you have the priviledge, you should vote too.

I am stepping off my soap box now.

Always a Republican. I am all about freedom- NOT entitlements!!!!!  In America the only thing you are entitled to is to work hard and play even harder - on your OWN dime. ;D

Read the PATRIOT act and tell me about freedom. Oh yeah, and ask your congressmen if they read it before they passed it.  :o

The unfortunate thing is that you are locked into a select few candidates, and not ONE of them will represent everything a person wants.

Registered Democrat, but my views span the parties.  Realistically there isn't going to be anything BUT a Rep/Dem in the office, so voting outside these 2 choices makes no difference.  The last hope was Perot (he wasn't Rep/Dem was he?), and he screwed that up for himself.  I honestly believe he would have had a chance if he stayed the course.

Because of the war and the bad PR of it, I don't believe Bush will be re-elected.  Looking at history, a Republican has never "ended" a war.

Do I blame the administration for the prisoner scandals?  No, I blame bored youth antics for it.  Do I think Bush lied?  You bet your ass I do...  (does that mean I don't think any other President has lied?  absolutely not...)

It comes down to personal agendas in the end, and I personally don't agree with GB on that front...

I just wish that they would spend as much money on the american public as they do every one else. Im proud of our armed forces! I back every soldier that we have to bad you cant have the same felling about politics! I just dont think that we spend enough time and energy worring about whats going on right here. terror is a different story.  like i said befor just one mans opinion........

america is not the only country that spends more money on other countries than it does its own people.

governments are all corrupt, it doesnt matter which one is elected,, they are all going to screw the average joe in what ever way they can get away with.

but at least vote  for which one takes your money.
excercise your right to vote.

QuoteUnfortunately as long as the majority continues to think this way. I have started to vote for the person I would like to see in office regardless of party. I will no longer vote for the lesser of 2 evils. My vote is not wasted as long as I have voted for a candidate in which I believe. I have not voted Dem or Rep (really they are the same regardless of wht they say) for quite a few elections.

Point well taken Brian.

Really, I think it comes down to marketing.  The two mainstream parties have exceptional marketing skills, abilities and resources.  Many other parties either don't have the funding or refuse to be caught up in the whole marketing spin "thing".

While I can understand and respect a candidate who says that the "marketing spin thing" is ridiculous so they won't jump into it, this is what the public relies on to make decisions.

By nature, people want decisions made for them.  The commercials really feed that process...  Market an X party candidate well and they would stand a SERIOUS chance of being elected.  However, again, it goes against the fundamentals of any party other than Rep/Dem (and the fundamental I speak of is lying and inflating the truth, selling themselves)...

Did you guys know that ShowTime is having some sort of thing where they are looking to "field" a presidential candidate through some show starting in july?

Scary thing is, After Jesse in MN and Arnold in CA, it could work!

Maybe not likely, but then again... :-/

I agree Jeff, the smaller parties just cannot compete in marketing due to lack of funds. The only time they have done well in the recent past was if the candidate was popular/well known. The average person does not seem to want to do any research about candidates, just decide based upon what they happen to see on TV. People should vote for the candidate whose views most agree with their own, regardless of party. We need to get away from the idea that a vote for a 3rd party candidate is a wasted vote. The only wasted votes are the people that do not vote.

Unfortunately the deck is stacked against a third party entering the presidential debates. The requirements for entry (something like 5% of the popular vote in the last election) are set by the republicans and democrats. It is in there common interest to prevent any pther party from doing well. Probably the only time they agree on something.

secularist

anyone but Bush...

but I'll end up voting Llbertarian, no matter what.  can't stand the BS of either major party.  they don't have ANY of your interests in mind.  they only care about staying in power.  it's sad and pathetic.  careerism has ruined the political system.
