Don't know if we'd get them all from this forum...

So, let's do our homework...

I've got a decent e-mail list...

Let me try there...

Ok, Walt Schaefer, my Michelin tire guy from Alabama is asking how it would work with dial up...

I'm on dial up too.

Well, I can upload files at work at 622 MB per second.  The average DSL/Cable connection has a download rate of 1.5 MB per second.  So, to give you an idea, the time it would take to download the entire movie to your computer, would be around 30 minutes with a DSL/Cable connection.  Now, with Dial Up  :-/   Honestly, I'd say do it at night, and start it when your going to bed.  It will literally probably take all night and will be available when you wake up for your morning coffee.  I can upload alot faster than you can download it.

Another thing you could do, is stream/download it at the same time.  That is, as it's playing, you would be saving 10 seconds approx. in advance of what your actually seeing.  Then, when your tired of watching it, just pause it.  it will keep downloading, and you'll always have the movie at your fingertips.

As far as the 2 week time length, how it works is each password decodes the file for a term of 14 days.  The file is encrypted, and your password is the only thing that can decrypt it, but the password expires in 14 days.

Dial up is hard to work with because the computer "downloading" it is the limiter.  If you had the same bandwidth the company I work for did, you could literally download the entire movie in under 3 minutes, but unfortunately, nobody will have that.

Cliff Notes Version:

DSL/Cable Modem: 30 minutes download
Dial Up:  Figure All Night (literally)  8 hours @ 56K

I may be able to offer a compressed version (lower quality than DVD) but I'd have to check into it.

Did we get anymore people yet other than the 1   ::) from this forum  ???

Dave?

Also Dave, are we gonna use the same PayPal address listed on your website?

Also, I talked to one of the software engineers at work today.  He said he can reduce the movie to a "lower quality" version where it should be alright for dial up, but I'd like to see how "low quality" it will be compared to the high bandwidth version before I allow it.  We don't want anyone getting mad because of quality.

I got a few emails asking what format the movie is in. The answer is MPEG4. I don't know much about video, because I stay away from computers. Dan don't do Windows.
All I can tell you is that all this stuff is done on Apple Computers, and we use it for some highly complex video technology, one of which is completely wireless via satellite, and mobile. It's some neat stuff 8)
The guy that does this stuff here said that all you'll do is click on the link, and Quicktime will automatically open and start playing it. It's not playing on a webpage or website.

Super Dave

I've got a decent handful of responses...but nothing earth shattering.

I could make a release on RRW, but we'd need to have the details in place.

Well, I guess we'll just wait until we have the written approval from Faster. I'll send you a copy of the email when I get it.

Super Dave

Sounds like a plan.  Keep me posted, Dan.

Out for VIR, sorry to say.

I probably won't have my motor back until Thursday?  I need a financial rest too.  I don't make a whole lot of money at all.  I'm rather underemployed...but I guess that's the choice I've made racing for all these years.
