I recieved my copy of faster today, and have emailed the company/production staff of Faster, and have asked for a private webcast to be allowed which I can host of the movie.  This will be for charity.  The company I work for, can host the entire movie, on a very high speed (OC-12) internet connection, where I can "stream" the enitre movie for viewing.    It will be in Quick Time format, at very high resolution (DVD Quality). My work has already given me their approval.  Here's the question:

Would you be willing to donate $10.00 charity via paypal to view Faster as a movie online?

Note: You WILL NOT be able to download the movie, or save it.  It will be encoded.  All you can do it is watch it, pause it, and that's it. It will be available online for viewing for 2 weeks, and your password is only going to work for 2 weeks.

Like I said, I am going forward with the necessary approvals from parties involved to keep it legit and legal.  It will be set up so when you make your donation, you will recieve an email within 30 minutes with a password to access the movie.

The charity I was thinking the money could go to is Super Dave's.  I have not asked Super Dave, but I guess.. Dave, will you allow this money to be sent to you?

Sorry, I should've email this question, but I'm having a email/spam filter problem.

If so, the money will go do Dave's charity.  I have not told "Faster" who the charity will be.   Please just answer to the poll.

Hey, if it spreads the ability to give hope to some kids with cancer now, and into the future, I'm in...

I've got a whole bunch of my money in already.  $10 seems really reasonable.

Corner....

While this is an excellent idea, don't be surprised if you don't receive a lot of positive feed back.  There aren't many of us that have a broadband connection that could support a webcast.

:-/  You guys gotta get out of Wisconsin  ;)  Still on dial up  :o

I just got off the phone with one of the people from the distributor of faster.  So far, they are alright with it, but I am waiting for written approval instead of just verbal.  Hoping to have something in writing before the weeks end.

Now, we just got to get enough people to donate to justify all the work.  So far, everyone's said no  :( :o

You might want to advertise on the track day sites. They might be up for it. I think the problem is that even with broadband and buffering, it might be tedious to watch.

Why don't you do a local viewing with the cover charge going to Dave's charity fund?

BTW, I'm in Wisconsin and I've got BB. People like Dawn are out in the agricultural areas, so there's no DSL or Cable BB available. I don't think it would matter what state you were in.

(Don't mess with W'sconsin) ;) ;D

Do or do not, there is no "try".

Well, I can stream it faster than anyone could ever buffer it.  Our OC-12 connection at the main office where it would be streaming from can transfer at a full 622 MB per sec. which is crazy speed.  I talked to one of our software engineers, and he said that he can make it where you could download it, but after 2 weeks your license rights would expire and you wouldn't be able to view it any more.  It all really depends on what the people at Faster will allow us to do.

Ahhhh. Kind of like Real Arcade's game demos. Couldn't you find a hack for that?

This idea may have worked better before the public release.  I have my own copy of it now.  I've bought a t-shirt from Dave, so my conscience is clear.   ;D

 :o  WoW  :o  Is that faster than the T1 I got at home  ??? ;D :P

I'd go crazy with dial up.  I use my cell phone for dial up on the road, and usually get aggrevated to the point where I just give up with it.

Alright, here's the final plan:

For a MEASLEY $10.00 paypal donation, you can watch faster online for up to 2 weeks from day of donation. You can download it, or stream it, and be able to watch it for 14 days as many times as you want.  You can fast forward, rewind, and pause.  This will be in Quicktime format, and you will need the most up to date version of Quicktime Player to view it.  You can download Quicktime for FREE from www.apple.com  The movie will be played in high resolution, and not a little screen like some downloads.  This will be full screen viewable, and have DVD quality picture and sound.

So far, everything is looking positive on the necessary approvals. Now, all we need is more than ONE person  ::) that would do it.   If we don't get atleast 100 people to agree to do it, it isn't worth the 3-4 hours it will take to set everything up.  So, we need to get 100 YES VOTES!

Common people, it's for kids.  $10.00 is nothing more than 2 gallons of VP. :-/ and you burn thru that money, literally.  ;D
