QuoteMaybe he can hook you up with the patented anti tuck front end!

Is that like having curb feelers attached to your forks so you know when your leaning to the limit ???

LMAO... Sunny, what did you get into now  :D   LMAO....

Sunny

QuoteI'll be at grattan this weekend, and also Monday for LED.

I think I'll be signing up for the July 5th LED event as well.  I'll see you there!   ;)

You have no idea............. All I can say is plenty of racers with expect status think they definitely know everything they are talking about compared to a novice................... ?::) ;D

QuoteSo true!
Not to mention, what are you talking about using the rear brake over the jump???? Ê ÊAre you trying to get the first time Grattan guys to crash their brains out? Ê5 seconds in the sweeper? ÊAre you sure about that?

No, not trying to get someone to crash.  I wouldn't do something like that.  I'm just saying what I learned from some really fast guys.  As far as 5 seconds, yup 5 seconds, but I was running a 1:36-1:38 back then, so 5 seconds isn't like 1 second when running low 20's in that respect.  5 seconds isn't major in a lap time when running high 1:38's.

I can tell everyone one thing, I'm no superstar, and I do what works for me.  I'm the last guy that you'll wanna follow around the race track.  I"ve learned alot from a lot of fast guys.  Some I've tried, some I don't.  Regardless, I'll tell you what I've learned, and if you feel like trying it, it's all you. I don't do anything mechanical, so don't ask where the fulx capacitor is, because I have no clue  ;) :P   I know where the shifter is, clutch lever, start button, key, and stop button is.  That's it.

Dan,
Using the rear brake over the jump will get you to crash, so if I were you I wouldn't recommend using it.  No matter how fast or Slow you are talking 5 seconds in the sweeper seems a little much.

Hmm.. riding a twin, this is what I do.

Go thru the down hill, and once I get out of it, lay on the gas. Once I hit the jump, and I get the feeling like "I got air" and the bike lands, I just tap the back brake for a second, and go thru the sweeper. I rarely touch the front brake and use all engine braking to go thru the sweeper. I was told that touching the back brake after the jump, settles the chassis for the sweeper. As far as the back, when I first started riding at Grattan I use to be afraid to leave 3rd gear. I now just go thru the gears, and get on the brakes hard while shooting wide for the bus stop. I dunno, seems to work for me. Didn't end up on my head at all, so I was happy. Got a better trick. I"d be willing to try it providing it's not something that is meant to make me end up sitting around shooting the crap with Harry ;D I'm always eager to learn. After all, any tricks you teach me, will only help on making Sunny walk around calling me "Daddy" after I win this bet we have going. 0 And, of course, I'll be making him call me Daddy infront of everyone. ;D

I can see it now.  Sunny's first Podium win, when he makes his speech:

"I like to tank Dan, my daddy..."

;D :P   Sorry sunny, but you know I gotta give you hell  ;)  Now same my name b..... :P

Jeff

T5 was awesome.  I played with it a lot and I ended up being fastest through there when I didn't touch the brakes, but let off on the way up the jump and caught a downshift on the way down.

The bump in 10a didn't bother me much.  But T12, all the way across the track, coming onto the straight is rough as heck, and you're super hard on the gas there.  Combine that with straightening the bike up (which generally has slight force on the bars which is BAD) and it upsets the front.

Suspension..  I learned early on that I could ride or tune.  I chose to ride.  I don't generally do my own suspension work.  I pay professionals to think about this for me (although, I do make small changes).  Yes, slight changes could have affected it but again, the lines I was running were most likely not the most ideal ones.  Again, an experience issue at the track.

My goal for the weekend was to stay upright and break into the high 20's.  I did stay upright, but had 3 laps that were .01 seconds off my other goal...  And I don't know what to base my time on.  Are 1:30.01's respectable for a newbie there?

Nowhere near as bad as I made it out to be?!?  Take a picture of the track.  Notice how it looks like a bad patchwork quilt?  See the multi-color veins everywhere?  The thing is horrible...  And what do I base this against?  Blackhawk (old and new), Gingerman, Gateway, Road America and Summit Point...  But I guess this could just be my interpretation of it...

Great. Just stay away from my bike there Mr. Goodwrench ;)  I like my brakes  ;) ;D :P

Sunny

Yeah Dan, talk all you want, just make sure you bring cash to the July 5th LED event because I will be winning that!   ;D

:o  Are you kidding  ???  You know how many people have a hard time breaking the 1:35's.   1:30 in a Fasttrax race as a novice will get you a podium all day.  Last twins race at Grattan Fasttrax I believe the fastest time was like 1:34's for the novices.
