I just heard that there wasn't going to be any practice at Roebling for the races on the 12th and 13th.  WTF?!?!?

speedster_1

Surely some of the locals know????

bueller?

GregR6

Keye (I hope I spelled that right), Manager at Roebling told me 15 seconds ago that ther IS practice and it is 80 bucks at the gate.

I guess that was you that called.  I just called and she said someoe called her a few minutes before.  LOL  Thank God!  I don't like the idea of racing on a track I've never been on!   :o

I'd also wonder a little bit about the track.  Are the facilities nice, or is it like Talladega?  What about power...will we need to pull out the generator?  Also, what about hotels.  Are there any special deals near by?

Lets see, first off there is 2 rounds of practice on Sat and Sun morn if you cant make it on Fri. There are plenty of hotels within 5 miles, right off 95. There is camping allowed, hope you have an airconditioned tent, its hot down there. Last, watch out for all the sealer strips on the track, if you run over them in the corners you will go down. ;D ;D

Hmmm.. no you will not go down if you hit them..as long as it is a dry track .. however if it is wet ...WATCH OUT!!!... there is camping... most of the time plenty of power for everyone.. really fast and fun track. gates close at 10 so if you go into town to toss back a few ..get back...or walk in....lol  bathrooms are pretty good..and last time we were there they were almost done with the new showers.. as for hotels .. something must be going on in savannah that weekend cause alot of the hotels i called were booked for that weekend... oh yeah.. Clay... you going to need fuel that weekend?

If you think 2 rounds of practice is enough for an ex that's never been there.... well, more power to YOU my friend.  :P

Well, would you perfer nothing and longer races?? If you are really good you dont need much practice, right. :P The thing about the sealer strips was to mess with the compititions head. ;D

at this point, longer the better, I still haven't preregistered.  :'( Sealer strips won't bother me, I've been to Summit once.  ;D

Uh, the sealer strips at Roebling are much different than anything at Summit.  More like tar snakes.

Get to Roebling and walk the track the night before.  T1 is a decreasing radius that can be tricky, but the track is really just a bunch of throttle control sweepers.  You'll pick it up quickly and do fine. ;)

R1KILLER

YES CAMPING IS PERMITTED.  TURN 5 SEALER STRIPS ARE A B@#CH.

GregR6

ya, I hear those tar snakes can bite pretty good...

Can anyone give some paddock specs? similar to VIR  :) ....or jennings  :-/
Bicycles allowed? (I'd rather bike my way around the track if possible)

hooter31

they are pretty cool lots of big pines to provide shade, lots of power outlets and you on grass so it's pretty cool :)

ecumike

Lots of room, grassy, no problem with finding a spot. It's usually not that crowded (relative to other tracks)

Clay

Yes, I'll need some fuel that weekend.  I think I'll actually need 2 cans of U4.  I'll put in the order on your website. Speaking of, I got contingency from my last race in Fl.  Any chance I can get that applied to this purchase, or will I have to wait for something to come in the mail?  (What good does contingency money do us if we don't see it until 2 months after the race.   ::))

Clay

BTW...what's your website?  LOL

GregR6

So, if we have VP as a sponsor, we get the discount through you as well?

Thanks...

Ok smarty..lol the only reason that took so long is i was not allowed by the powers that be in the FL region to pick up the results at the track and had to wait till they were posted by CCS..and you know how long that can take..lol ... But FL is the only o0ne who does that ...the rest of the tracks give them to me there.. as for using the cont. ..VP will send you a check made out to you so you can just cash it or deposit it ;D and R6 what exactly do you mean? give me a call rather than post it here 706-936-1583 and the web site is here: http://www.teamvelocityracing.com/vp.html

Clay

Ah, ok...gotcha.  I wonder if it'll be in within two weeks?  I just put in my order on your website.  :)

I WAS JUST AT RRR LAST THURSDAY FOR A TRACKDAY AND THEY HAVE REALLY DONE ALOT SINCE THE LAST WERA RACE.  THEY CLEANED UP ALOT AND THE GRASS LOOKS GREAT.  NO MATTER WHERE YOU PIT YOU SHOULD HAVE GOOD LEVEL GROUND.

yes bicycles are allowed after the raceday.

The track is a very fast flowing track, only one hard braking turn and thats T1 coming off an almost 4000 long front straight.  The rest of the track is just a matter of connecting the turns.  If you miss your mark say in T4, it can screw you up for the rest of the lap.  Only a light tap of the brakes for pretty much each turn on the rest of the track.  T9 is a FAAAAAAST sweeper, you should be able to run thru it about 130mph or so with your knee skimming the ground.

As for the tarsnakes, if its a dry track, dont let the mental thing get in your head when you see them.  They will NOT be a factor, tires stick just as good on them as the rest of the track, like GayMedic said, if its wet tho, the race line is COMPLETELY different.  The tar snakes become just like ice patches.

Facilities are good, clean showers, lots of power along the fence that borders the track (RV hookups and water hookups).  The only bad thing about the track IMO, is the Nazi that manages the place.

Clay

I appreciate all the input.  This sounds like a pretty easy track (and by looking at it).  It also looks like my 929 might be at a disadvantage against bigger bikes.  This place looks like a "power" track as opposed to a more technical track.  :(
