Thanks Dave. I know you mentioned him before. I should go see what he would charge.

JeF4y, I still might take you up on your offer. Maybe I should see if it makes it through this year and then next year I can make it pretty. :)

I did the same as JeF4y. Bought all the equipment to do it myself.  (On my new Home Depot card, no payments and interest till '05 :) )

Used BMW & Ford color paints. 2 stage. Came out very nice.  Not only can I now do it over and over myself, but I now have the option of painting others' bikes and recovering the cost of my equipment.

I'll be at Jennings and VIR 3/4 and 10/11 if ya wanna check it out.

Here it is, pre-stickered, just finished painting it the day before this pic was taken.

Greg,

Don't get me wrong.  I think your offer is a great one and one which you should set up and offer to the average racer.

I was just explaining my personal tight-@ss process.

If you can do the average run-of-the-mill bike (2 colors + plates) with simple design or no design for ~$200, you will get bites.  Above that and people end up going rattle-can...

I think you might get some more bites also if you cut down the cost by having people prep the bodywork first.  Prep time is the largest portion of painting my stuff.  But again, that's me...

If your in Michigan, consider using the services of my teammate Jeff Harris, #115.  He works in a professional auto body shop in Detroit and does excellent work.  He can repair and paint you bodywork to match whatever color you have or want.  He also paints wheels (not powder coating).

Let me know if you are interested.

I have to say...those stickers look good Greg! :)

See you and Mike @ VIR!

My last paint job cost me a whole 3hrs time and $40. ;D ;D

But I have my own compressor and HVLP gun now. Just need a DA and another HVLP (I like to have one just for clear coat), touch up gun and a new air brush.:D
