Summit Point Raceway:

I'm working in the cafe yesterday when I hear Able-1 get dispatched for an indident at the Bridge.  As I start to hear details appearntly there's been an accident between a street motorcycle and a bicyclist.

I figure it's just some scrapes and bruises but come to find out later the guy on the motorcycle was on a Limited Edition Ducati(didn't hear the model)..had just bought it yesterday...cost over $27K..and there were only 400-some made world wide...

Appearntly he had come from the paddock side over to the Orchard Road side when ,as he was crossing the bridge, there was a bicycle coming up the other side.  He made an evasive move to avoid the bike and ended up going off the side of the road and down the hill into the trees and bushes.

Sucks to be him...and if the rider is reading this....ouch...sorry dude...

The other Will

He must have been coming from the Orchard side - since I saw him and his bike on the paddock side - in the weeds - 40 feet from the bridge. A ten year-old was nervously trying to explain what happened but didn't make sense. Earlier I saw a Troy Bayliss replica Ducati parked behind the restrooms. It was probably the same one.

Sounds better....it's funny how stories get changed as they're passed from person to person...lol

and the Bayliss part sounds right too..I heard someone say that but couldn't remember all the details...

40 feet back in the woods eh? ouch...Luckily I don't think any kids have been seriously injured at Summit this year but we're pushing our luck with all the kids that ride around without helmets on...be it on a bicycle or a dirt bike...but that's another email..

The bike was 40 feet from the bridge, but only about 2 feet from the edge of the road.  It travelled that far, only because of the drop-off where the edge of the road ends.

He couldn't have been going very fast.

I can confirm the "Troy Bayliss replica" part of the story. We were pitted just before the apex of turn #10 and I saw the ambulance up there. We didn't walk up because we had our own kids to try and keep out of trouble but I did see a guy pushing a muddy red duck with a #21 on the front.
It really is a shame because it looked like a real nice bike.....under the dirt and leaves and sh1t, I mean. I hope you're okay dude!

Now that I've read your description...

I was on my way to the front gate for a lock refund, when I passed that bike.  I had just come over the bridge and through the hard left, as he was rounding the corner towards me.

Since I was in CCS Official mode, I thought, "Why is there a race bike over the bridge.", because he had a big number on the front.  Then, I saw lights and signals all over it, and figured it was just a fan.

Yup, I saw him no more than 15 seconds prior to impact.

damn Steve....the kid on the bicycle must have been right behind you...

I was already over the bridge, but yes.  Perhaps if I stopped to tie my shoe before departed(delaying me a few extra seconds), I would have BEEN "the bicycle".
