Tech has let me pass with smaller numbers because i have a 3 digit number !!

Ahhhh- numbers!  If I had a dollar for every rider who did not get properly scored because thier number looked like Chinese haiku, I could afford typing lessons.
Here is the dope.  #1's have to have no serif.  Look at that number above.  See the curly coming off the top?  That is a serif.  Number must be legible, and must meet tech inspectors and scoring officials scrutiny.  If you are not a first time racer and know your competition number- ther is NO EXCUSE for not having the proper numbers on hand.  Numbers are cheap, most shop have them and yes, invariably someone at the track will have them for sale priced like airport beer.  Also, give your local announcer a break.  Try to make them legible at a distance and mostly at speed.  A electrical tape creation at 1 a.m. may look great at 0 mph from 5 feet- imagine looking from 25 feet at 140mph.   Hope this helps!
