http://venus.13x.com/roadracingworld/  People when I see a ghost I don't play Scooby-doo and solve a mystery, I run. So if I get a warning like this one, isn't it time to check out some other tires? I know this is a set up issue and should be adressed as such, but when adding the length to the swingarm you are changing all your turning rates, your pivot angle of your swingarm, and a few more important things that go along with going fast. Good luck Dunlop riders!!!

38 p.s.i.? Yikes. This statement is a liability loop for the corporation against possible litigations, right?
Kurtis Roberts, Ben Bostrom, Mat Mladin, Jason Di Salvo, and Ben Spies all had Duns chunk or explode on them. But those guys are super fast pros, it couldn't happen to a turtle am like me, could it?
I'm REALLY curious now to hear which Daytonars that went down in the cold might contribute their lack of luck to running the recommended 38 p.s.i. Thanks for the reference Thorny.

I had that happen on my gsxr 750 last year at Summit with the 208 GP a. I almost got black flagged and I could feel the bike wasn't pulling on top down the straight I didn't even realize it, then it happened on the dyno and smoked the place out.

That article is just another way for the guys using brand "x" tires to get their jabs in. the tires in question are slicks first of all, second the diameter is larger than stock to start out with due to the size 195/70-17. As far as the pressure goes 38psi isn't that big of a deal, it helps the tire run cooler and in race tires you don't run air you use nitrogen. Take notice that at the tire test the Honda Superbike went 192 MPH with no tire problems which by the way were Dunlops. Don't buy into th B.S.

We tested the new tire last month, and had fantastic results with it. The side grip was unreal, and we simply accounted for the very slight increase in additional wheelbase with a equally slight geometery change.

I simply changed the gearing to reflect the additional growth, but the track was not fast enough to experience it, so we reverted gearing.

We are looking foreward to using this same tire at Fontana this month, and are thinking of the additional growth as an "overdrive gear" much like a fueler has.  (think top fuel or funny car)

No we didnt go to Daytona, T isnt old enough yet.

"That article" is a nice thing for Dunlop to do. It is an article about the corporation's warnings being posted, to the public, at the track. Congratulations to Dunlop for stepping up to the plate and somewhat trying to fix it, but ultimately it is a liability loop-hole; we KNEW we had a production problem and now so do you. If you want to risk your neck more than we already do by running substandard tires, hey that's your business. However, please do not discount those racers' mentioned above and some of the time they spent in the hospital recovering from Dunlop failures. You discount these guys when you say it's a bunch of B.S.. Good luck to Dunlop riders.

Yawn...

When Dunlop stops going to races as a dominant tire supplier, I'll look for something else.

Dominant tire supplier?

I don't know what CCS races YOU go to... but it sure seems to me like Michelin is the dominant tire brand in the Midwest and FUSA....

Obviously Jeff forgot how Dunlop gave away a bunch of contracts in the mid-west two years ago to a group of Mid-wests faster guys to try and drum up support like they used to have. I know of two of them before the contracts were avid Pirelli riders. (Ebben,Tez are two of them) In the last two years mid-west sales of tires has been dominated by Michelin and Metzler/Pirelli. Check your stats Jeff you will humbled.

Super Dave

I ride Michelin's currently.

I still think that the Dunlop's are competitive.

Tire pressures are related to a lot of things.  So, I don't think it's an issue of how the tires work.

I use Michelin's.  If you value my opinion that way, then let that help you.

No I don't race, Paul does and he runs Michelins.  Why, because they work for him.

Would he run Dunlops.  No.  Why you ask?  For the past two years, there have been warnings, tire failures (we've all seen them), splits in the tread, and now this.  Would Paul ever push a tire to the limit that the pro guys do, probably not, but why risk it?

I'm just glad we have choices.
