I don't follow stick and ball sports either but don't you think, after his long career in bball, that MJ's use to all the paparrazzi(sp?)? I mean come on, the guys one of the most popular sports figures in the world. How can he expect to step out of his house without drawing attention to himself?
I'm sure CCS would like to keep a lid on this until he actually shows up on a race weekend so they can exploit the publicity for themselves. That might not be a bad thing as it would be great exposure for our sport !
I say let the cameras roll  ;D

Stumpy and I talked about this.  It would be cool to look over and say, hey, there's Michael Jordan.  He came to the races, what a cool guy.  That's about it.

HOWEVER, if a certain Nicky or Colin or (really out on a limb here) Valentino shows up, then there might be some hub-bub!

Bottom line is it almost seems natural for a guy like MJ to want to get involved in something like this.  What a dream it would be to fund a race team!  Not that I'm not doing my share right now, but, you know what I mean.

I hope he goes for it.  I think he'll get a lot of satisfaction out of it.

PS - Is this or is this NOT the UN-Official CCS board?  Pick one and go with it.

QuoteDid I ever mention that people who don't respect the privacy of others are a pet peeve of mine?  With an attitude like that, I'll probably never be a big time writer...
Chris,
At the right time, I hope you're given the opportunity to use your talent.  I bet you've already written the article in your head.

If "big" MJ wants to come out and race, I hope he does.  And I hope we can all treat him like we treat each other. because once the leathers and helmet come on and the visor goes down, he's just another one of us.
CCS AM 815... or was that 158?

What Kim said... Once he puts on a helmet, leathers, and grids up, I dont care who he is, MJ is nothing but another target in my sights. (not that I would ever be behind him) LOL! But I would love to have him race the f-40 with us. That would be cool. It would be good for exposure for CCS and BHF thats for sure! But that's neither here or there... I have other things to worry about. I have a bike to rebuild and only 5 weeks to get it done.... AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

Montez Stewert (a.k.a. TEZ) Told me the whole deal on this last summer and what was gonna happen. K3, Just so you know, I told no one. I was quite fond of the idea of being on the same race course as him, but to be honest I would be more star struck if I was on the track with Eddie Lawson.
It's too bad he doesn't realize what he could do to maybe put some spectators around the track at these poorly promoted events. Maybe seeing that Clear Channel manages him, they would realize the opportunity to put there racing on the level with coverage like the AMA gets.
Whatever his "Airness" decides to do, I will guarantee that the racers I know might be star struck when the first see him, but once on track he will just be another back marker.

I wrote it on paper, and shared it with a very select group of friends.  It must be hard to never get to be a regular guy.  I've met and hung with a number of celebrities at the track over the years.  It's kind of heart wrenching to see them basking in being a racer, then suddenly some people show up and expect them to be a star.
The frame was snapped, the #3 rod was dangling from a hole in the cases, and what was left had been consumed by fire.  I said, "Hey, we've got all night!"
