Kim,
Due to a major street riding accident I didn't race last year. They made transponders mandatory for CCS in select regions? Wow, that's news to me.  :(
Luckily I race SE region, so I'm guessing I'm okay?

OWW!  I hope you're back to 100% and glad you'll be back this year.

I believe we were told they will continue using manual scoring as a backup for a few more seasons, but yep... when you register at the track they'll assign a unit to you.  I know we had fun finding an "uncurvy" surface on which to mount it.  One benefit is that if you don't have a lap timer, you'll be able to get printouts of all your lap times.

Tiff and/or Kevin can speak more definitively on the details re the other regions.  I hope I'm not speaking "out of school" in regards to rolling it out to all regions.

(just to make sure I'm not confusing anyone... I'm talking about the little yellow boxes - not lap timers)

CCS AM 815... or was that 158?

Transponders are used in the SE region. They were in use at Barber last year. AFAIK they are used in all CCS regions - ones run directly by CCS.

The first mount was free, additional mounts were $5. Not sure if you can still get one free mount.

They are paid for through an additional $5 on your gate pass. Much better than paying $40 each weekend.
