FUSA purses are severely diminished.  There is supposed to be better contingency though.

As for certs...surely, you can sell them to friends at face value if you're not going to use them.

What's "serverly diminished" mean Dave?  How much lower?

Peanut

Ok, I think I found it.  Wow, severely is a understatement!

For 10th at Heartland Park in 2003, I think I got $375 or $325 in Sportbike.  It will be $100 this year.  I think to win it will be $500 paying down to 10th rather than 15th.  Loudon will be different and I think the purse will be $1250 for the win.

There is a class championship fund also.  You don't have to buy into it, but it only pays down to 5th.

We'll have to wait for contingency....

The trick has been the manufactures basically lying about how much they were going to support the FUSA series.  So, FUSA/CCS established stuff based on that, but never got the goods from the people that claimed that they would support it.

Running FUSA/CCS is just like it is for racers;  you work to put together nice programs and all, but getting some in the motorcycle to actually execute on their word can be hard.

Certainly, at least the FUSA series offers riders the opportunity to ride in a controled enviornment in that there are no factory specials.  There is enough restriction that manufacturer teams will never show up.  Really, to make it a cool series...that's up to the racers to promote themselves and what they do.   That's the only reason why some racing series exist...the teams have marketed it so that advertisers have to take notice.  An organization does not make a series...the racers and teams do.

What type of contingency would manafacturers put in?  Would they really do more than say WERA's National series?  I'm going to run a few nationals to get some experience running with the big boys, but are those purses enough for the big boys to run a full season?

Super Dave

You'd hope that they'd at least do the same.

The money hay day of road racing was in the eighties.  Bikes, entry fees and tires...well, and everything... was cheaper but the manufacturer contingencies were still bigger than what Suzuki is currently offering.  Only Yamaha offered that big $2k for a win last year.

I dont think any could have supported themselves with purses to begin with, now they really are not going to be close.

Super Dave is right, it is up to us racers to promote the series. I have put up a semi professional effort to promote my program to in/outside industry...

I even had contacts with foreign motorcycle/aftermarket companies to promote my program. In the process also promoted FUSA as a national series. People have heard of AMA but never FUSA. So I am doing my part to put their name out there, and maybe someone will start to pay attention and take notices of this pro. series.

I think my program is doing rather well, and with some moderate results we could look for a bright future....

As for the purses, again, I never wanted to count the purses and contingencies as part of my budget. As a AM and as a EX/Pro. I remember taking back checks after every event and that was always a bonus, but I am not going to count any of it, so I can still run my program even if I finish last every race.

I do have to say I choose FUSA series because there is NO way I could promote myself and my program as a CCS team/racer. There is just no marketing and selling value in that (sorry). So by getting myself to the big show, even in the learning stages, I will be able to achieve more toward the future...

but ya, the purses sucks... especially in sportbike/superbike. Considering 5 gallons of VP and 1 set of tires is a minimum... I think I can only afford to do sportbike, not superbike. If sportbike paid to 15th place like last year, I think I may have a chance at recovering some costs, but now... I think not!

QuoteWhat I would like to know is how long the certificates are good for.  We will be running a limited schedule this year and what happens if we get a certificate, but are not planning to attend any more races this season?

Dawn   ???

Good question
