GSXR RACER MIKE

Well I went and saw Torque today and have to admit that I liked it better than Biker Boyz for sure. Yet on the other side of the coin it was still way out there on alot of the stuff in the movie.

If you pay attention at the end of the opening scene when they blow by the street sign and it's spinning, the words 'CARS SUCK' is being displayed by the spinning sign!  ;D I also noticed on the leathers of the lead female character that she has a WERA patch sewn onto the shoulder, didn't notice that till the female motorcycle ballet at the end of the show. Also noticed that the bikes that are used to shoot the scenes that are off road appear to be some type of dual sport bike or MX bike with crotch rocket body work on them, very noticeable by the stance of the bike and the speeds while traveling off road. The last 1/4 or so of the movie is way out there on believability of the motorcycle action.

Something else was the number of 'Champion' spark plug patches, advertisements, and tattoos that were constantly littering the movie. Does anybody actually use those in their motorcycle?

But after all it was a movie and people want to see wild stuff more than actual stunts nowadays, so more power to 'em! In my opinion it's worth renting the movie when it comes out, and worth going to the matinee showing at the theater. :)

I saw it.  It was a two hour long Mountain Dew comercial.  Laughed my ass off through the entire film.  I did notice the switch to rain tires for the off road sections.  Better choice than the Mission Impossible 2 sudden swap to off road rubber.  Fun movie...leave reality at the door and suspend your disbelief.

Reminds me of the write up a critic did of the last J-low romance movie...
"It was so bad I had to see it again to make sure Madonna wasn't in it".  I haven't seen it yet but plan to rent it and Biker Boyz some time just to see what all the fuss is about.  If you've never seen "Born to Ride" with John Stamos, it's worth renting.  It's befinetly a "B" movie but he does all his own stunts on some old (1930's) Harley WL flatheads.

I can't remember ever seeing Champion plugs in a bike and I've owned *alot* of old stuff, only lawn mowers & maybe in my 1940 Dodge...

Believe it or not, Ducatis come with champion plugs.  How long they stay in is a different story but I am looking at a poster with champion stickers on Bostrom's and Bayliss' 2001 superbikes.  But still, it is rare to seem them anywhere else. :P : :D ???

Not to offend anybody, but that movie was complete crap.  All of the off-road scene were filmed with dirt bikes covered with bad replica fairings.  That RC51 looked horrible.  The long forks were a dead giveaway the first time they showed them.  The only good scene was opening canyon shot, everything after that sucked.

I thought I saw a WERA patch in the commercial. They never played that one again, so I wasn't sure. Also, I noticed everyones leather's seemed to fit like a second skin, while standing up. :o All of you know that you wouldn't be able swing a leg over, never mind crashing. (Oh my aching b*lls). Also, if anyone's butt looked good, they were definitely hollywood made leathers. Having been a costume designer, I would have at least researched to make sure the patches were authentic. Geez, not like there are any tracks in California or anything. Or video games. Or televised events. OK...now you know why I'm not going to waste my money. :P

Do or do not, there is no "try".

I almost got sick. With the exception of the opening scene, the entire movie was a waste of an hour and a half of my life that I will never get back. Had I not had people riding with me I would have walked out. Lets see.... they completely insult almost every aspect of riding one of these beautirul machines, they had to throw in a wanna be nascrap car, have a hummer trying to chase both of them (and crush an exotic) and worst of all "sword fighting" with bikes. Anyone who wants to see this, even for curiosity, should not even bother.

I must say the stand up at over a $1.40  :o really impressed me but the bolt sticking out of the knee puck almost scared me. Overall it was a good flick.

I'm never going to watch this movie just like I'll never watch Biker Boyz.  Those idiots aren't getting a penny of mine for putting out that crap.  On the other hand, I'm thinking about buying the RC from the movie:  http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=50006&item=2455422766

I mean, it is "one of the fastest bikes ever built" right?   :-X

now is that RC-51 the on or off road version?

Depending, it may be one of the fastest Sportbikes made..  in the dirt that is. ;D
