QuoteHey Stu:

How is your recovery coming along?

Dawn   ;)

Hey Dawn,

Well, it's good news/bad news. Around about the time of the ROC I was able to start walking. But I still can't tilt my foot up. So, on December 22nd, I went in for more surgery. They took some bone material out of my hip and grafted it in to my tibia to get it to heal faster. And they looked at the cut muscle/tendons in the same area as the break to try and do something to fix them. They decided there was nothing they could do.

Since then, I've talked to a foot and ankle specialist in Philadelphia that is pretty optimistic that he can fix it, and I've talked to Dr. Ting's office (haven't talked to the man himself yet). I've got another test to get done here locally and then I'll be sending full copies of my records to both of the new docs and if they both still think they can fix me up, then I'll go see both of them before deciding which one to go with for further treatment.

At this point, I'm still optimistic that I'll get some function back. And I really have to get some flexibility back in my ankle before I could race again. But I'm optimistic on that too. I just have to keep plugging away and see what comes of it.

Thanks for asking, by the way. I hope you and everybody else had a great holiday season. I was out of the hospital before Xmas, so that was good, anyway. :-)

Stu, I sent your copy out yesterday so you should get it at the latest on Monday.  Keep me updated on what the docs tell ya.  Take care.

Amazing photos of a really bad day.  Thought my boy Chef was done...  I was sitting in his lawn chair as I watched him fly by.  Everyone else looks at those pictures and goes, "WOW!"  I don't need to see them, because I'll never be able to forget watching that crash for as long as I live.  Even though I wish I could...
The frame was snapped, the #3 rod was dangling from a hole in the cases, and what was left had been consumed by fire.  I said, "Hey, we've got all night!"

BTW,
VERY Good work, and THANKS!!! Vicki (and your brother, Rick <rite?>)
THANKS to everyone who's been so supportive through this whole thing that this BIG DRAMATIC event has been so reduced to something that "just kinda happened"
(which I'm talking to everyone, we have one of the greatest environments that exist!)

Stu, just be as patient as you can, I believe it will happen for you with todays technology, may be a lil longer than we all hope, but, it may NOT be!
hang tuff!!! we're all pullin for ya!

And really thank EVERYONE else too....

Ike

p.s.
K3, I really wanted to see how you'd do on my bike !!!  that part does suck, you looked pretty cool (and fast) on it!!!    :)

Yeah, I think your Honda and I could have been fast friends.  That bike was real user friendly.  The Gixxer had been kicking my a$$ at Barber, but I started going fast on your CBR after lap two...
Did you manage to salvage anything from that bike?  My guess was pieces of the engine and the shock.  Thank God you fared better than the bike did!

Well...
I thought the motor and shock was good afterwards, maybe wishful thinking....
They both needed rehabing.... I changed out the motor on the back up bike but couldnt get it cranked, my buddy, Guy, over at Expert Cycle in Blue Island said he had to go inside, but got it back together in time to be a back up for his f4i that he let me borrow for Daytona...
also put the penske on the f4i, but at Daytona, had to let Thermos Man rebuild it (it was hurt pretty bad)
....
it all came together pretty well... considering that I really dont have to be able to WALK following the "incident"  ;)

Hey there, Toby!  How you been?  Meeting you was about the only good thing that happened to me at Barber.  I hope you'll be around more this year!

I'm just thankful that you both are ok, that's what's most important.  I hope to see both of you at the track again soon!

YES!  You have pushed my SRAD.  Unfortunately, it's not a very exclusive club...  Thanks, man.  That hill was steep!

Wow, I saw the pictures in RRW.  Was the cause really running low on fuel with the following bike hitting the lead bike as the motor stumbled?
