I won't go into all the reasons here.... but WERA announced Monday that they will not be racing at Putnam Park in 2004.

My question.... does CCS have dates close to being locked up for 2004??

WERA will need to look at picking up 3 dates in their North Central region that they lose from 2003 at Putnam.  Gingerman is probably the track closest to Putnam that they might look at. Or, do they go east to PA and pick up dates at BeaveRun?

Although, Mongo did mention looking at the possibility of scheduling dates at Blackhawk and Gateway.

Could be some tough decisions for WERA racers in Chicago, Indiana and Michigan once they set their schedule!

I believe that most organizations have their request in for dates by July to September.  Doubt there will be many dates available anywhere.

I read the whole thread.  All I can say it was a sad situation and I'm sorry.

Don't have time to read the whole thing myself.

But there are  certain issues why CCS doesn't go their either.

Regardless, it's too bad.

The only reason I kept my WERA liscence was to race there twice a year. :-[

I personally have been contacted by 15-20 WERA guys asking me to see if CCS is going.

I already spoke/wrote to Tiffany and Kevin to see if we could pick up a few dates there.  Sounds like there are a few reasons why it would be difficult.

I was thinking of posting a poll to verify the interest in going there from the CCS group.

Do you guys think it would be helpful?

i dont want to go there after reading that thread !!!

My eyes glazed over about 1/3 of the way through that thread.  How absolutely tacky and unprofessional. ::)  Too bad for both organizations involved.

CCS AM 815... or was that 158?

Don't believe evrything you read.  The Daiso family is actually very nice (ask the NESBA guys, they rent the track several times a year) and it is arguably the best club raceing track in the midwest.

I think that thread says a lot about WERA.  Some good guys, some jerks, but run by a couple of family members with very little outside accountability.

If you can filter out about 90% of the backstabbing comments from the Putnam thread noted above, it's really sad how the situation evolved.

Bottom line is that if it hadn't been for hurt feelings on both sides that originated from some mis-information it wouldn't have had to come to this.

I'm still amazed at the impact the clash of a couple of ego's can create for such a large number of people who weren't directly involved.

As mentioned earlier, there are many other factors in play here from both sides that we'll never know about that ultimately led to the plug being pulled!

Anyone wanna guess the #1 jerk of the thread?  From as far as I had time to read...MAX.  What a surprise...Max being a jack ass... ::)

It was an unfortunate situation for both parties.  Taking it to a public forum was the worst possible idea - The Putnam owner started the thread, and WERA/WERA members fueled the fire.

I've heard plenty of negative comments about Putnam's owners.  However, they do have one of the nicest tracks in the MidWest and I wish egos could have been put aside for the "business" aspect of it, where racers could race be there next year.

Also, from what I've heard - all the dates are booked already for 2004.
