They've got the race for this weekend marked as Cancelled on the schedule: http://www.formulausa.com/schedule.asp

What kind of f@cking bullshite is this!!! >:(

rick

Yeah, when I look at the fire maps at http://wildfire.cr.usgs.gov/ the nearest blaze looks like it's almost 100 miles away.
...Although I hear that the smokes pretty impressive - even Vegas is swimming through it:

Is this for real? Has anyone called to confirm this?
IF SO THIS SUCKS.

I tried to call CCS and Buttonwillow but, nobody answered. I plan on trying again first thing in the morning. :(

I take it that once a race is canceled, it's off the schedule for good?

It was because the weather was getting cooler.  Heaven forbid that a SW race take place in less than 100 degrees.  That, and the fact that I wasn't going to be there.  ;)

There are going to be alot of pissed off racers that show up if it is cancelled, because alot of racers don't use this forum!  CCS had better make an effort to contact all registered contestants personally!!! >:(

That would make far too much sense for CCS to do that so you know it won't happen.  Unfortunately my guess is that some of the key people for the CCS Pacific/SW events are busy doing things far more important than a weekend of motorccyle racing and if that's the case I sure hope that everything turns out for the better.

One of the guys called the track at 1pm Pacific yesterday and they had no idea that CCS were considering cancelling the event. The track told us that they were unaffected by the fires raging to the south and the wind is taking the smoke inland towards Vegas.

If anyone from CCS is reading this post could you please confirm what is REALLY happening as the track appears to think the weekend is on and there are many people from Northern California that do not use this board and are planning to leave today.

Just spoke to Nicole at CCS and the weekend is definitely cancelled due to the fires.

What Simon said!
I called CCS this morning and they said that because of the fires they were having difficulty getting all their people out there even if they are no where near the actual track so, they cancelled it. Grrrrr,

Yep.  I will confirm on top of that.  The BW round is cancelled.
