Just curious as to everyones feelings on rule changes you would like to see for 2004 in Formula 40.

I know last year there was some discussion as to cc limits,  lightweight vs hwyweight. super sport vs superbike.

I thought the grids were bigger than the previous year and the competition was better overall.

How can we get more well aged guys and gals involved?

I would like to see a lightweight/heavyweight split. Both could run together, so as not to add any aditional classes.

I think thats a really good idea Brian. Just make it a 2 wave for LW/HW instead of EX/AM. That would be great fun with some very exciting racing!

I raced a couple times. I would leave the class alone.  I think the Ex/Am distinction is a better one that Lw/Hw. I rode a 600 and diced regularly with GXR750s and RC51/Ducs.  The experts (including those on 600s or SVs) ... we'll ... I never saw them after the start.

I turned 40 this year and got a rude awakening when I won the f-40 race at streets and found out that the F didn't mean what I thought it did. I was running a ZX9 at streets and was DQed. Formula at WSMC means open unless a cc limit is the class. The 750s are 50 pounds lighter and 10 horse stronger so what is the point of the 750 limmit in F-40, it makes no sence to me. I have a 636 this time so I hope to hear to protests on sunday at streets

Hey Arnziffel!  I hope you're still monitoring this thread.  Question for ya.

I'm really happy to have read the above part of your post.  I'm over 40 but have thought F40 is for those who have raced and have now reached 40 (kinda like the Senior PGA) or very experienced street riders who now have the disposable income to try racing.

Does CCS F40 welcome true newbies?  Newbie as in maybe 5 years riding experience and a riding school or two.

Hey H-man,

Certainly you would be more than welcome, the group of F40 riders here in the Midwest and Great plains divisions are a pretty tight knit group and enjoy having new faces join in. I got to race with some of the east coast guys at Barber and they seem to be a goood bunch of guys as well.
I wouldn't be to concerned that you don't have any race experience, there are alot of us that didn't start racing untill we were older. If you have had a school or two and feel comfortable on the track, by all means go for it.
You probably couldn't have a better class to start out in than F40, it certainly isnt cut throat racing, but it is very exciting to say the least.
Hope to see ya out there in 2004

H-Man, F40 is a great place to start, it is still considered the "Gentlemans Class"....

Oh man!  ;D

Now the mind is really racing (no pun intended).  Time to re-think next year's vacation plans and budget to see how I might make this a reality.

If you don't see me as a participant, you'll definitely see me at tracks close to the Detroit area to check things out and get to know you all.  8)

To assist me in understanding the pace of the group, I'd like to know the average lap time you guys (and gals) who run F40 do at Gingerman and Blackhawk.

Will you indulge me here?
