First all I can say is holy crap!!   :o    When I started riding last year I would have never thought I would be, first off, racing the following year, not to mention racing at freakin Daytona!!!!!   What an experience!!   There are few words that can describe the feeling, even riding my slow azz MZ!!!    I think the other guys did it more justice with descriptions and all but, all I can say is wow!!!  I still get a crazy grin on my face just thinking about it!   Heading towards the first banking on the first practice lap I was like "Crap, I'm gonna need more speed!!!"  and kinda went up the banking a bit, and then at the other end, pulled it open and got it up (me and the bike)  ;D   Just an unreal, un-natural, un-explainable time!!!!    I had entered only 2 classes, Lt. Wt. Sportsman and Supersingles, barely competitive with my bike in both but gave my best and pushed the bike none-the-less!!!!   I ended up 11of12 in LtWtsportsman and 8of9 (being 4th as an amature so I got Daytona wood!!) in Supersingles.  Not bad I think, not first but not last?  I did have a 1st place in fun tho!!!!!!     Also I want to thank Mike Williams big time for hauling me and my bike(s) down.   Sorry if I almost killed you on the way back!  Hope your not having flashbacks of your trailer rolling down the highway!!!!!   ;D :o   It was quite the journey!!!!   Thanks again man!   Tom & Benji congrats to you both also, glad to meet you both and I'll be seeing ya both next year, and chasing you on the track.....soon........ALSO!!!   Super Dave!!!  Thanks for the Secret Daytona Tips, and all the help and advice and joking thru the year!!!!!

Was it that bad?

In 2000, we did a 180 with my trailer and van.  Really uncool.  Trashed two wheels.  Had to limp in to Chattanooga and try and find a six lug wheel.

Ah, my first Daytona.

I had to ride an FZR750R Superbike.  Um, talk about confused.  Wasn't mine, didn't work well, my teammate...well, he isn't racing anymore.  But that's when I got hooked up with Dale Quarterley, so it was ok, in a way.

Hope the tricks helped...at bit...  And nice job!

Yea Dave, I read and re-read your cliff notes on the track, watched a Daytona 200 video that Mike had, helped alot, I've never been too quick to catch on to the layout of tracks or to find the right lines, luckily it wasn't too complicated!!!  I could'nt figure out how to enter turn 1 or find the right speed, I always entered WAAYYYY to slow!!!!

Mark, I think we will be racing at least one class together right?    8)

Actually Dave we were darn close to going into orbit. I believe that it was a combination of things that caused it, being slightly tail loaded, traveling down a decent size hill, and getting hit by a semi wind blast as we passed it is what started it. It was to the point where the trailer was wagging so bad that it was forcing us to cross back and forth across the lanes uncontrollably. I would guess that at the worst point if we would have gone 2 more times we would have lost it. Jordan did an excellent job not panicing and was able to recover that bucking bronco from the brink of destruction!

So, you have weight distribution, but not "Dynamic Sway Control?"

MJ, if you weren't getting into on, you should have called me.  There is just a trick to it.

LOL!   Mike, just glad I got us out of it!!!

Dave, I should have called you either way, even to just say I was having fun, I wasn't even thinkin' about it tho, I was just there and enjoying the whole experence.  We did try to find the Port Orange Steak House tho.
