yep,
thanks for all the help and encouraging words all year guys and gals.
it was so cool making the rounds of Daytona with
all the folks we read about and talk to from the other regions. Greg, it was a blast battling that freaky fast 636. and I had the most fun racing this year with Mr. Ned Brown. a hellova roadracer. I was
really impressed with everyones talent. It was the first time this year that i was outmotored. there were
some pretty fast machines out there.
Bill Meyers kicked some a s s too... he'd get out front and that'd be it. It was key to be out front.
in the Sportbike race, I stuck the ol' elbows out and made some room passing 12 guys on the way to the
international horseshoe. then it was on to Mr Brown.
ran him down after a couple of laps then he got stuck in traffic and i checked out. luckily there were no 636 to battle in this one. The Melkman was chearing on the sidelines and Meyers broke his hand
in a nasty high-side during morning practice. But the
fastest guy out there was deffinately Jorge Rodrigez.
He started 39th on the second wave of the Superbike
race and finished 3rd. the lap timers didn't work in that race, but i'm guessing he was doing low 2:00's
where Ned and I were in the low 2:01's.
It was fun, but scary. not because of the speeds so much but the track conditions. slippery, bumpy, windy, and the fast lines take you over some sketchy
parts of the track like the rumble strips in the chicane
and the aprons of the track avoiding the draft pass.....etc,etc.
GTU 4th
MWSS 3rd
MW GP 2nd
Sportbike 1st
MW Superbike 1st.
5 races 5 trophy's not bad for a first timer. the track
is not too difficult to race on... but if you want to win,
you have to put the fear aside and really twist the wrist.
i'm tired now....up all night haven't slept yet so i'll
 talk more later,
Benji. 2003 Amateur National Champion in Sportbike
and MW Superbike.

MELK-MAN

nice ridin.. Jorge R. is a very good rider for sure. I would have liked to have seen Bill m., yourself and Jorge gridded on the front. I was kindof a wuss only entering 2 races but i just didnt wanna take too many chances on a (believe it or not) stock brand new bike that was not mine. The -4 tooth gearing was spot on for the banks & straights but suffered a tad on the infield, combined with my tip toein about on a borrowed bike allowed you to get it all back lap after lap.
cool meetin ya and congrats.. dont let those things get dusty...
