Jeff

I am pretty bummed that I missed the final BHF weekend.  I hope everyone had a great and safe weekend, and look forward to the stories & recaps.

For the last few weeks I've been working like 16 hr days and then getting paged every 30 minutes in the few hours I'm not there..

I'm really hoping to make Gateway this weekend...

Noticed that you weren't there.  Someone dropped by me asking were you were....and I hadn't seen you.

Been kind of a long/short season for you, eh?  Long getting things together, and short...it's done...almost.

See you at Gateway.

What were the fast lap times like?

Gateway or BHF?

Highlight for BHF...

Jessie Janish on his 600 ran a 1.11.880

Not a record but darn quick!

Dawn

PS:  Paul dipped into the 1.18's on his SV.  Only 3 seconds and a hundred pounds and perhaps we could compete with Ed Key!   ;D

Everyone seemed to be going fast this weekend.
My best this weekend 1:12.9
Turned 1:13.0xx s pretty much all weekend.
I need to find a second somewhere...I NEED NOS!!  lol
I was on the bubble all weekend...
low /mid 12s pretty much was the pace.
Ya Jessie was flying...1:11.8 is railing!

1:11.88 !!!!   Amazing.  Jessie basically broke last year's lap record in his first outing on the 600 at BHF.  Imagine if his teammate Larry Denning were there.

Super Dave

We worked Jesse's set up Thursday, traded bikes, etc. to get it in the ball park.  The 1:11 was on Saturday.  Don't think he went faster on Sunday.  I was right behind at a 1:12.17...missed the 11 that I've been hunting for....but then I've got this bike that runs hot too.  Got to figure that out.

Jesse is a motorcycle racer through and through.  To get him to do fast times on any bike is a matter of allowing him the opportunity to ride it a bit and then work on doing some set up.

If he starts thinking more about how the bike actually works, he'll go faster.

True...  But it didn't have the pressure of last year when I was chasing points.  Now I can go out and try different things (like running HW classes or whatever).

In all, it's been a good season so far...  My goal was 1 piece of wood as an expert.  I doubled that the first weekend, and now I nabbed another piece on the new bike.  I'm running faster times every weekend, so things are going in the right direction.

Really looking forward to the next couple of weekends, and hoping the weather (and work) will be in line with my desires...

yeah, it was fun too, very competitive.
the faster amateurs were in the low 13's
with the exception of a couple of races, it was the fastest, smartest, most fun racing i've been involved
with. Kevin was cruisen on his 750. As far as Janish
is concerned, he should be in the 09's next year...
then on to AMA. I would except nothing less out of that kid. period. He is truly gifted. It was very fun to watch. I can't wait to race against him next year. you
could tell he was fast by the size of the bug guts splattered on his wind screen ;D

I think I'm buying Jesse a 50 pound back pack.

Time to go on my weight loss program. :P

Jesse and I have really equal bikes, coming out of 4&6 with Dennings.  But I could tell how he just had more poop at the kink that I'm just porky.  And then there's the heat thing.  But those just don't work on the track, so I hope I can find something wrong with my bike this week.  And Jesse's fun to play with anyway.

Y'all forgot Jesse is riding with a broken collar bone also...... imagine when he's healthy.

Thursday was his first day on the bike, Saturday his first race day with it.

3 wins and 3 seconds on the 600, one win on the SV.

He's looking for sponsors ..........

I have to agree , not bad for his first outing! he was less than a sec off Larry's 600 times. With another day under his belt at BHF he could make it into the 10's. His bike was also running on pump gas with a defective power commander.
The funny thing is that people were tellin him to get rid of the Hyperpro shock spring as the rising rate springs are no good. That statement is amazing as no one on a 600 went faster! The track record at BHF is held by Larry  on his R1 which has a rising rate spring. Buy the right products and they work, when properly set up.

Congrats to Jessie and his dad for a job well done!

Thanks, Jim.  And I send the same thanks to you, Shawn, and Ed.

Hyperpro for me.  Makes my bike easy to ride.  Had a couple of people give it a spin and they think it's nice and comfy.  It's like it should be...easy to ride.  If I just wouldn't have picked the wrong tire for MWSS and ULGP on Sunday...Oh well!

As for Jesse and the 10's...I wanted that for him Sunday, but he didn't need to, so that was fine.

yep i know and i feel bad. but iwas moving and the tip-over sensor shorted-out and before i could
think, bamm...but don't worry it eventually cought up with me as well shorting again discouraging the bike from shifting or engine breaking into T1
leaving me alone in the dirt...then again Sun
on the way to T2... sitting on the sidelines is no fun.
Racing is frustrating at times and people make mistakes....blaim who you must, i blaim a $28 dollar
sensor for my woes this weekend.

J-Janisch

Thanks for all the congrats on last weekend at BHF.  It was a very good weekend.  Dave is right, on thursday we were struggling with some set up, when we got home dad was a little dissapointed because we had junked a tire in that track day.  I really didn't know what to expect going into last weekend.  I was hoping for some top 5's.  To come out of the place with three wins was truely amazing.  I remember last year when we started Gordon, Doty, Purk, & Rosno were pretty much all my idols.  I couldn't believe how fast they all were.  Now being able to race with them and be competitive is truely an honor.

As for doing 9's, that will never happen from me on a 600 and I already asked dad about a 04' R1 and that didn't take him long to answer with a big NO.  So that kind of sucks.

As for going AMA next year, also I don't think it will happen.  We'd need to be on a team because otherwise its really way to expensive for me to be missing school and going all over America to race in places like California and Florida and all them.  Next year I think our plan is to be racing the Formula USA Series and also of coarse CCS local races when our schudule is open.

The reason we are planning on running the Formula USA Series is because of my roadracing/flattrack backround.  It's a good chance for us to get some good racing time in one weekend because they will be having some of the dirttrack races on the same grounds as the road.

So once again thanks everyone!

So young man.  Can I have your autograph?  (Remember hero, I beat you once! ;D)

P.S.  Sorry I almost forgot.  I would like to take an extremely big Thank You to 4 & 6 Racing.  Jim, Shawn, & Ed took the time out of there very busy schudules to set up our awesome bike.  The Janisch's appreciate it greatly,  without them I wouldn't have had an R6 as good as it is.  The bike is awesome.

And doing 10's on sunday??  The only time I was going to go for it was in the Unlimited GP when it was cancelled.  My last lap when I was trying to catch Malterer was a 12.08 I believe.  So I was getting there, just had to get through some traffic.

Also I'd like to thank Dave Rosno for having his schools and letting riders like me come and work on things.  I'd also like to thank his instructers...Monte N, PJ, Tom, Mark, Steve, Russ, Kevin...sorry if I forgot anyone.

Thanks for your help everybody!

Autograph Chris, I'm not that good, but for you.....anything!

Hey Jess,
thank your mom for washing my air filter :D
and yer dad too for letting me use the compressor...
i also rinsed er in gas like he suggested. cleaned it up pretty good. I can't wait to follow you around next year. great job again this weekend. so give us your
thoughts on any differences between the SV and
the R6. which one is easier to ride?
Benji. #30

J-Janisch

Differences between the SV and the R6.  Well there both really fun to ride.  When riding the SV it doesn't really matter what you do with the throttle, you can pretty much just wick it open and you have if any no wheel spin.  On the R6 you have to have a lot of throttle control.  Mostly it's just the competition, in the 600 classes I now have like 5-6 Ed Key's instead of just 1.

It's really fun getting the chance to race verse all these really fast guys.  You never know what your going to learn from each one of them.  Many riders have different lines on the track so it's fun to learn what other riders are doing and pick up on that and try to make your racing lane faster.

I liked racing the SV classes because of Ed racing in them.  You can really learn so much from, just watching his ways of doing things.  I know I go home a lot and think about what he did differently then me and how he went faster through what turn and what he all did.

Roadracing is just simply a blast!!!!!

J-Janisch

After I posted that I realized I didn't really answer your question.  As for which one is easier to ride, I'd probably have to say the SV.  Because you don't have to worry about things like wheelspin.  You can just go out and give it your all.

lil_thorny

that's what i thought you'd say. i too learned more this year from riding behind the faster 750 guys.
you can't make mistakes if you want to hang with them! 5 Ed's?  oh man, i can't wait!!! now a Jesse
Janish to deal with too. This racing deal is going to have an entirely different feel next year. i'd like to see what you could do on Denning's R1.....i'm
thinken maybe 1:08.7.... sounds pretty good eh?
Jesse, you gonna be @ Daytona?
Benji. #30

J-Janisch

Daytona is still being discussed around our household as of right now.....I'd like to go and a lot of people told us we should because of all the good track time.  Which makes sense.  I'd like to see what kind of lap times I could do and also to see how I could finish starting a little waze back.

I think the final decision will be coming up quick because we have to start filling out the forms and making our schudules fit around the week.

Well I got to go to school now lol.

Super Dave

I wouldn't say that you get a lot of track time.  It's at a premium.  Yes, you'd be in the back, but for the FUSA races, you'd have to qualify, so your grid would be based on that.  I know that once you got the track figured out, you'd do really, really well.

Can't go myself.  Just too many financial issues involved.  Remind me that I need to write something for you, Benji, JJ and the other VRS riders that are going there...something to get you around the track a bit.  Won't make too much sense until you did a few laps, but I might help.
Super Dave

Jessie.....nice riding this past weekend!
You really impressed me!  You're a very good racer!  Very Clean!  Plus you went faster than I thought.
I tried to pass you going into T3 in one of the earlier races on Sunday.  You just looked over at me and just held your line.  I've passed tons of people using that line.  Well you held me off and worked your way thru the pack....lol left me behind.... :-/ I need to learn how to pass one of these days..lol
But again very impressive, nice work man.

Dano, you know they can make you one too.  And the Hyperpro stuff is just confusing  to the rest of the world.  Their rising rate springs work...

Exactly....4 & 6 really knows what there doing when they set up a bike.  When you can go somewheres and they have the knowledge of knowing what the bikes going to do and when it's going to do it you know they know what there doing.

I can't say enough about how the bike was awesome this past weekend.  We'll see how we do at Gateway....?!?!?!?
