Twin Sprint/Double Pts?

Just curious as to what everyone thinks about these weekends.  I personally would love to see them done away with - if you miss one of these, it hurts bad on the points side, and they're always at the locations that are either farthest away, or during the least desirable part of the season (like snow racing at Blackhawk in early April).

I think CCS should knock it off, and just make every race weekend count the same.  Thoughts?

I am running all the MW / GL / GP regions events this season (16 total) and also the Daytona R.O.C. for a grand total of 17 events. If you look at twin sprints as 2 events in 1 then I am actually running 21 events this season (4 T/S events). I personally don't mind the number of events this season, but I think the T/S events push it over the top. If we were running far fewer events I could see them being justified, but with this seasons schedule - no way!

As far as Double Points is concerned, I think this is done to get larger turnouts at possibly lower turnout events. In that regard I can't blame CCS for doing that, and it also really shows who is commited to a season and who isn't. D/P events don't cost us any extra money so I have no problem with them.

If it were my choice, I would eliminate the Twin Sprint events, keep the Double Points events to help increase attendance, and keep the overall number of events approximately the same. I would also split up the required events per region a little bit more so if you want to run a lot of events you could, but if you want to follow just 1 regions events it wouldn't be so many races (mabey about 9 or 10 events per region with 16-18 total events available between all 3 regions). I personally prefer getting more track time thru variety by visiting more tracks, as opposed to less variety and the same amount of track time by having Twin Sprint events.

My suggestions would allow people to have a choice of running less events (and possibly more classes if desired) while still being able to compete for a season championship. It would also allow people like myself to run more events, at more tracks, and follow all 3 regions if so desired.

Well, the twin spint/double points thing certianly encourages me to drive further than I might otherwise so, in that sense it's a good thing for CCS and for me 'cause I get to ride tracks I might not otherwise and CCS gets more of my money. It's not like they're a surprise or anything (CCS' scheduling ability aside). You know from the beginning of the season when and where they are so, it's not like you can't budget the money and/or vacation time well in advance.

If you're in a points race, then the "where" shouldn't matter 'cause you'd go anyway. If you're just upset that more dedicated people are getting lots of points going to tracks that you don't wanna drive to then boo-hoo (I mean this in the nicest possible way). If you think it's just silly then you could be right. :)

Anyway, I think they're fun 'cause they spice up the season. The added pressure of having to finish well in a double points race or getting a second try (or just more trophys) in a twin sprint weekend just adds more fun! I don't feel that it reduces the competitve spirit in CCS but, I could see the argument being made.

I like the twin sprints.  Yes, they are for the events that don't draw the riders, but it at least makes it worth the time.

Don't ya think?

While it's true that Twin Sprint events do provide more track time at a lower cost than running 2 seperate events (thru the extra classes being at the lowest rate offered per class by CCS), the extra classes run are not at an option if following the points. With regular events if you want to run extra classes you still have the cost savings with multiple class entries, but they are an option not a requirement (if following the points).

I personally pay all costs associated with my track time (tires, entry fees, etc.) and don't get any sponsership money or contingency to help me out (aside from a parts discount). For those racers who finish well and recieve those benefits I can see how running double the classes at various events wouldn't be an issue, but for the most part the only people recieving those benefits are the front runners. For those in the same situation as myself, the extra costs involved in T/S events can be a burden when combined with the number of events being run this season.

I like the twins but the dble pts are unfair. Not everyone can drive to Topeka.

I like TS weekends.
It saves us $ on hotels and travelling. Instead of 6 trips to RRR, we only have to make 3 this year
