i have  2001 F4I W/4000 miles on it. the problem is when i am cruising on the street, my temp runs around 225 degrees. is this normal? it seems very hot to me. any ways to cool it down. i have tried water/water wetter mixture with no luck. i am going to try engine cool and maybe header wrap or header blanket. any ideas?

It kicks on at about 220 (around that temp)

is it getting that hot sitting in traffic or when riding?  My 99 CBR 900 RR (FOR SALE) would run around 215 sitting in traffic then the fan would kick on..when riding in hot heat at normal speed on street it would run normal temp of 185-190.

header wrap isn't going to help you.  In stop/go traffic, the bike will get HOT.  Plain and simple.  But the fan should be kicking on as needed...

You're not experiencing anything out of the norm from my vast experience with F4's & F4i's...
