Yes, they actually do carry the flags during missions. The 128th (rhiannon's unit) carried several.  :) For those of you interested in this type of memorabila, Rhiannon will have an "Enduring Freedom" T-shirt for auction at the Wegman Weekend (Aug 23rd, BHF). ;D All of her crew in the desert signed the shirt, something like 2 dozen signatures. Very cool. Bid high. This will be a rare item.  :D :D :D

As is the flag I've got up on Ebay.....I dont see any others there from Operation Iraqi Freedom. There is a reserve, but its low compared to what the Flag flown in the Shuttle is going for.

Was the flag one that your brother's unit took over there?

He bought the flags at the BX, I believe, and they were put on a C-130 transport that flew over Iraq from his unit, the 386th Security Forces from the USAF. A certificate was issued to make it offical.

Ya know, I support our troops and President 110%.  I believe we should be in Iraq, pursuing terrorists in Afghanistan, SYRIA, and Iran.  No stone should be left unturned and those that seek to particpate in acts of cowardily murder should be eliminated with extreme prejudice.

Now, does anyone else find it a bit ghoulish that we have commercialized war memoribilia, even going as far as issuing a "certificate of authenticity"?  Men and women, our countrymen died in pursuit of freedom.  How can we cheapen their sacrifice with this crass commercialism?
