New transponders?

My main concern with switching to AMB is that the current one has been out for awhile. I just fear that a new one will be released very soon.

Current (non-X2 transponders) MYLAPS transponders are compatible with the X2 system for timekeeping purposes, but will not benefit from the all-new X2 features.

How many damn features do we need on a scoring transponder really? Other than durability and reliability (both of which goes down when you start putting more and more crap in something) and works everytime it goes through the timing loop, that's it.

Does anyone know if we can we rent the AMB units for team challenge this season or do we have to buy one?
