Ya, looks good for Gingerman... should make it in on thursday nite for friday practice ( I need it!)

GTU sounds good too, esp for someone with extra track time (like the week prior ;))

We'll be sure to keep an eye out for the 29 machine

SBK-Ike,
Extra track time.  Not!  I was breaking in the motor and getting my brakes sorted.  I plan on using Friday and Saturday morning to get used to the track.  I don't know what you are talking about.  You are definitely the person to beat this year.

How's your bike running?  I know the leather make you look faster already.  ;D

Is the track open Thursday night?  I would to get there before the crowd so I can corner off a good spot.  I plan on pitting close to where we were last year.

TZ clutch

Toss the stock springs in the trash. Buy a set of Barnett springs for an RZ. I have used one set since 1994.

The outer (yellow) friction plates are the ones that wear. They wear faster on the side towards the steel than towards the aluminum. I take them out and rotate them to get even wear. I replace them when they get under 2.8 mm (I will use them for practice but not starts).

The inner (black) friction plates will last for quite some time. I have had them last more than a season. I replace them when they get to about 2.7 mm.

Steel plates, I toss them when they do not slide smoothly on the clutch. Also, the sharp side (since these are stamped - one side is smooth, the other is sharp) should face the pressure plate - that way the clutch plates will not chew up the innerbasket when the clutch lever is released.

I check my clutch at the end of every race day - only takes about 5 minutes, especially at places like RA.

Buying a used race bike (especially a TZ) - I would strip the bike to the bare frame, and strip the engine on a TZ. I did it on my TZ and it was new when I got it, it also gets completely dismantled every winter.

Thanks TZRacer.

Conclusion => buy more yellow friction plates?

I stripped the motor down (minus the trans), but I think because I only had the service manual and no freaking clue what I was really getting myself in, I got bit.  Won't happen again.

Make sure you have enough yellow plates and steel plates. I usually started a season with about 10 of each.

I was busy this winter, other wise I was going to offer to give you a hand. I guess I should have checked to see if you could have used any help. If you have any other questions/problems let me know.
