Get to Blackhawk 9:00AM Friday morning. Unpack and help friend set up the pit. Align my chain and tighten my rear wheel. Mix up some fuel and heat cycle by bike twice. Everything seems to be going very well and I'm excited about getting on the track to break in my motor. I get out on the track.. 1 lap.... keep the rpm's down to about 8 grand... lap 2... circulate track at about 9k  lap 3.. circulate track at about 10k...  coming out of turn 6 the revs fly up to 14k with no power coming on. I think to myself that the clutch must be slipping. But before I could even finish my thoughts the back wheel locks up on me and throws me on top of my gas tank where I rack my family jewels hard enough to bring tears to my eyes. At this point.. I'm thinking that I must have seized one of my cylinders and hope that it's nothing worse. I pull in the clutch but the rear wheel is still locked. I pull my bike over to the fence and notice that I have oil all over the expansion chambers. And at that point I discover that the freaking counter shaft sprocket came off and completely broke off the shift shaft part of the engine case. I wanted to cry but being the ruthless gangsta  that I am I didn't think it was appropriate to show tears if I wanted to maintain my membership as an "OG" so I refrained. In 3 laps.. my weekend was over. I was looking so forward to this weekend to dial in my bike and put some good laps together after having a miserable weekend at the previous round at Road America but it wasn't to be because for some reason.. I forgot to tigten down the bolt on the sprocket after hand tightening it after changing the sprocket. The worst part of this whole incident is knowing that it was 100% my own doing.   :'(

I had something like that happen to me at Daytona. I hand tightened my Coolant Drain Plug.  On lap 1, it came out and I lost all my coolant, then the corner workers flagged my in ASAP. thank god,  they saved me from toasting my motor. :-[

Sorry about the bad luck. I tried to look you up Sat.  I hope you get everything back together soon. If it wasn't for bad luck you'd have no luck at all. :(

Been there, done that. No damage though. In fact the countershaft nut was kind enough to stay in the lower for quick retreival later. At least the damage was limited to your bike. It could have turned out a lot worse.

Kevin,
well I did have some good luck within the bad luck. It could've locked up on me in the middle of a turn causing damage to me and the rest of the bike but luckily it happend as I was coming out of the turn. I will be back June 1-2. See you there.

Yeah you could have forgotten to tighten the axle nut on your TZ, causing some really funky handling quirks at Buttonwillow.  Then you and I (oops I mean your friend) could test ride it and scratch our (oops I mean your) heads wondering what the heck the problem was.  Then just for good measure, you could dump leaded race gas, on my (oops I mean your buddie's) family jewels.

 :-X

P.S. Sorry to hear about your lost weekend TZD.  Crap like that will seriously test your dedication to racing.

TZD we need info like this on my site!!!  This is the kind of stuff that could save other TZ250 Racers from having the same thing(s) happen to them.

If you could i would really be happy to have you paste this story on the tz250racing website.
