Hey all!

Allow me preface this topic so you know where I am coming from.

I am an EX lightweight racer, been running SV650s for a while now but was interested in moving up to the middleweight bracket so I recently picked up an 09 GSXR600 that I plan on racing for the first time at the Loudon Classic weekend.

Here is my situation:
I havent ridden an I4 bike since 2002, let alone raced one. I have never ridden a bike with traction control. I believe I am going to get two 15 minute practice sessions on this before I am going to have my first race :-p

So, this bike has a Bazzaz unit and I would like to hear from racers who have personal experience with this technology. Here are my questions:

How hard is it to configure? It is already set up and working on a default TC setting, I am curious how easy is it to tune to my needs? What is the process to do this?

Can someone please describe to me how the TC feels when it engages?

My only contact with TC technology is watching motoGP races where they whack the throttle open on corner exit and let the TC do all the work. I cant possibly imagine that this would be anywhere near that sophisticated (nor would I want it to be honestly). To what degree does the TC function? Strictly an additional safety precaution to prevent catastrophic rear end slides or is this actually able to provide some degree of control?

Sorry for all the noob questions, and yes I have read all the propaganda on it. I would like to hear from people with real world experience with one of these units.

Thank you in advance!@

The Bazzaz unit works on "Controlled acceleration".
It is not traction control.

As far as tuning, that is not possible without some how logging data.
You may be able to "tune" by the seat of your pants... Just not very well.

As far as the "feel", you wont feel it in many cases.
It is not like the TC in your family car.

IMO, turn it off and learn how to work the throttle.
You are not likely to highside the bike the first time out.

It's not easy to tune and nobody is going to give you a map.
The best way to do it is buy the led indicator light and a gopro; film the LED and the rev counter to identify when you need it most.
Your not going to be able to test anything until your comfortable on the 600.
