figured id throw a little story out of my sunday back to back supertwins/LW F40 races on 2 different bikes
Headed to pit lane with my 749 a few races early with tire warmers and stands. Few races later was supertwins and headed out on the 848. good start, moved into 3rd in to t1. 2nd place was slowing with a couple laps left and was hoping to sneak up on him. Did and was on his tail till last lap where he looked back onto the front straight. He got on the gas and started to pull a little gap. KTM RC8 vs my 848 didnt have a shot. Had to hustle the cool down lap because was also in the LW 40 up next. Came into pit lane quickly where the 749 was waiting on the stands with tire warmers on. parked the 848 on the rear stand and pulled my helmet off to grab a quick drink as the [/size]rest of the field was sent on warm up lap. Quickly got helmet on, tire warmers off and hauled ass down pit road with the 4 board showing and on to the track. took it a little easy for a couple turns to adjust to the different bike then picked up the pace to almost full speed to make the grid. Got to the front straight as the last guy was pulling to his spot. Pulled into my grid spot flipped the visor up took a couple breaths, flipped it down and they threw the flag. coming off a race was already at full speed at the start and was the last to let off the gas into T1. Had a big smile on my face and said attack. pushed hard first to last lap winning flag to flag. Anyone who saw probably noticed a bit of celebrating after the finish. Considering i put all of 1 mile on the 749 before friday practice i was a bit excited

Congrats on a great result!

I just started with two bikes this season. I'm running a 749 in Thunderbike and SuperTwins, and a Duc 1000 DS in LWSB and LWGP. I would do LWSuperSport too, but it's combined with Thunderbike in FL.

Anyway it's tough, bikes are very different and it takes me a lap or two to get settled. It's mostly mental, I'm trying to work on it. Lots of little things like the 749 has a close ratio trans, so I need 4 downshifts where on the DS I only need 1 or 2...

And I nearly SHAT myself when I got my $800 tire bill for the weekend....

Gino-Can I have your take-offs? :) I think the switch from the 848 to the 749 may b a little easier than the switch from 749 to the DS only because both the 848 an 749 are considered Superbike chassis. I too have the same issues as you do Gino except I think mine is not as drastic going from the street based 748 to the 800SS. Your 749 has the Corse transmission and my 748 has the standard trans.

You did well in the Thunderbike race and I have record of you doing a 1:34.2. The image is on Facebook. I probably had the race of my life after stalling on the grid and leaving the line as the last person. My family and friends were cheering me on as I made it through the pack of riders. Thankfully they were spread out enough to allow me to squeeze in between them. I caught you and Vito within three or four laps I think but began to make mistakes and lost time. You certainly gave me the second spot when you blew T8.

Doug I certainly do share your excitement after the performance I gave and the show I put on for the audience. Apparently everyone was talking about it as I competed.

Great result on your part.
