Ultra Light Thunder Bike Race recap for Homestead Miami Speedway 05/06/2012

Saturday povided good riding condions but brought some trouble for our new ULTB rider Sammy Hakim who had trouble
with his carburetion set up. Sabrina Ferreyra, and Dom Herrera opted not to run Saturday practice. This weekend we were
also joined by wild card rider Michael Henao aboard one of MotoTech's Ninja 250s'.

Sunday once again brought beautiful weather and close racing. Michael Henao, Walter Ferreyra and I
led the pack with Sammy Hakim running a lonely fourth, Sabrina Ferreyra fifth, and Dom Herrera in sixth putting the
pressure on Sabrina. The race at the front was very tight with Michael Henao showing me a wheel in turns
2 and 11 every lap until he crashed out just before the mid point. Walter Ferreyra started to close the gap on me running
the fastest lap of the race.

Race Results

Miguel Chirino     1st
Walter Ferreyra    2nd
Sammy Hakim        3rd
Sabrina Ferreyra   4th
Dom Herrera        5th
Michael Henao      6th

Next CCS Florida race is at Palm Beach International Speedway May 28.

Good to see the 250 class taking off.

You guys should make the trip to NJMP, especially for the Labor Day weekend.

It has been pretty awesome. Every one has been sticking to the gents agreement keeping the engines stock and the racing has been close. There has been a new winner and new riders every round. If all riders would be able to make it at once, we would have about 13 on the grid plus a couple of wild cards on extra bikes.
It would be cool to make the trek to NJMP, it has def crossed my mind. I do have to measure the budget if I am going to make all of the Florida rounds though. I would also really like to go to VIR in June but have to play it by ear.
How is the racing going over there? Haven't heard much from theother regions.

The MW region has had the same 4 bikes on the grid for the first 2 rounds. There has been a lot of interest from other riders about the 250,s but not any new rider/bikes showing up. Threres also the North Woods GP organization in our area that has a Ninja 250 class whos schedule doesn't interfier with CCS so theres plenty of oportunity to run these bikes. All I can say is get on one and see how fun it is to run a spec bike!!!

Didn't know about the Northwoods GP having a class for them...I'll have to go back to looking at the for sale bits hehe, I'm hoping by next year the race schedule doesn't put the 250s on track with the lightweight bikes (or ultralight) so I can run that class as well, but I guess we'll see
