Glad to see a good turn out. How close was the racing ? How about the split between the experts and the amateurs? Did anyone take advantage of the new rules concerning performance upgrades and if so what was the effect? I'm just trying to get a feel for how the class might take shape.
There were 2 experts in the race, and both turned 1:56's.  They actually rubbed paint in T3 it was so close.  Of the 3 amateurs, two of us turned high 1;59's and I believe the 3rd (Jennifer) was very close to the 2:00 mark.  My bike (3rd place and novice) definitely had an advantage over the other two novice bikes.  I know Vaughn's was bone stock, where mine is jetted and piped.  I also weigh about 20 lbs less than Vaughn.  I was able to pull him on the front and back straights and he could outbreak me to catch back up.  I think the combination of weight and the pipe/jetting was the difference but the lap times between us were 1:59.85 to 1:59:9 so it wasn't much of an advantage as far as lap times.  Of the 2 experts, James' was pretty much bone stock and Miguel I believe has a pipe and jetting.
Oh, and the 350 walked all over us until his motor blew.  :)

Steve, I too hope that this class succeeds as Miguel can attest to me giving some suggestions trackside to help with attendance. I think for the most part there will be that gentleman's agreement when it comes to the rules and what is done on the individual bike. As far as the CB350, it is an old bike and will probably break more than the newer 250, plus the new suspension bits are better than what you can find for the CB350.

What I am not sure about in the rules is it is under the scope of Thunderbike. It leads me to believe that GP bikes are exempt from the production model. Reading into the rules it seems that the Moriwaki, Honda motored bike would be eligible. That wouldn't make sense and I hope it isn't so.

Spec class, then a supersport, or Superstock would be appropriate. i think though the Ultralight Supersport should be the SV and Duc800 like bikes because there are still many of the SV still racing. Supersport allows more to be done than Superstock(completely stock). So I would label it Ultralight Superstock for the spec class. just now for the participation to make it so. Say, 20 bikes on the grid. there will always be someone to race with.

Question: realizing (now) that the podium would/could be made up of experts and amateurs, are they also then pointed that way? Or are ex/am points seperated?

I am assuming this is a Sportsman class since it is under Thunderbike rules in it's current iteration. In the past Ex and Am were granted points as whatever they are but equally within the class.
