Everyone's definition of 'good' is different - what's yours?
(cost, cleanliness, proximity to track, proximity to restaurants / bars / strippers  )

There's alot of hotels along I-90 heading North or South, some are new, I will concentrate on those to the South. Rockford (were I live) is the 2nd largest city in Illinois and is located South of Beloit down I-90 about 15 minutes. There's several exits for the greater Rockford area so I will give you the basics at each of them starting with the closest to the track.

-The route 173 exit is out in the middle of no where, but if you head West from I-90 about 3 miles you'll find a bunch of restaraunts - but no hotels. You can also get to 173 by heading south on 251 (251 is located just East of Blackhawk Farms). This exit has a toll for anyone coming from the South or planning to go South on I-90, but not for people coming from or planning to go North.

-The Riverside Blvd exit has several newer hotels and fast food restaraunts that are located in a good area on the West side of the Interstate. This exit also has a toll for anyone coming from the South or planning to go South on I-90, but not for people coming from or planning to go North.

-The East State Street exit (BUSINESS 20 - not bypass 20 where the outdoor water park is at) is the main strip in Rockford and a good / safe area as well. There's ALOT of hotels located at that interchange, some on the East side, most on the West side of I-90. There's also ALOT of places to eat to the West of I-90, the majority are less than 2 miles from the Interstate. No tolls at this exit.

thanks brother.......awesome information, but it is greek to me as i've never been to the area. got any hotel names?
being safe is halfway up the scale compared to priced. any place that does military rates would probably be good. its just going to be me and the wife so 1 bed is going to work.

Here you go.... this is what Sabottka was referring to.

Hey guys and gals....had a conversation with my friend Jeannie at the South Beloit Inn (aka Ramada) right off of hwy Ill. hwy 75 on Dearborn ave,and I noticed last year their rooms were down.So I told her alot of racers were trying to trim some fat, possibly doing more camping, but said to her why not cover your costs and have some cash flow with a special racer rate for this year. She was very enthuised at this win win porposition and came up with for only BHF racer /riders $49.95 per night even for a double queen room. That's a no brainer...so just call 815-389-3481 and mention you a BHF racer/rider and want the special rate per Jeannie...hope this will work for some of you.

The Ramada Inn (fka Holiday Inn Express) just was sold at a bank auction. Its been having serious problems and I dunno if I would even want to go there. Theres a Best Western (newer) right off 75 (South Beloit exit) near the interchange. Its about a mile and a half east of the Ramada/Holiday Inn. Other than the 2 truck stops, its a pretty quiet area.

Just a fore warning. Make sure not to speed in South Beloit. They like to hang out on 75 and 2 alot.

We stay at that South beloit Inn,the Old Ramada, and for 49.95 racer rate,it's just fine, the only problem we came into was last time the A/C was out in the smoking wing, other than that it's been fine for our intents and purposes. Now the Nights -Inn on the other hand....I wouldn't stay there it they paid me to stay there!!

Rockford definitely isn't going to be as close as Beloit, and to be honest since I live here I've never stayed at any of the hotels here, I just drive by them constantly. The East State Street and I-90 interchange area has everything from a Super 8 and Red Roof Inn all the way up to a new Hilton on the fancier side, another somewhat pricier favorite of alot of travelers is called the Clock Tower Inn ( http://www.clocktowerresort.com/amenities.asp ) which is owned by Best Western and is located directly across the street from the I-90 exit ramp interchange (there's 2 restaurants and even an indoor water park on the premises). There's also alot of Hotels in between those price ranges, just depends what your looking for and are willing to spend - a quick search on Google for Hotels in Rockford Illinois will show alot of them.

If you decide not to go with a Hotel closer to the track, and have questions about any specific Hotel (or price range) near Rockford, just ask.  :thumb:

We stay there too..  No problems, make sure to ask for the "executive suite" tho, same price, but away from the screamin kids and pool area.
