A few years ago a guy ran out of gas in the carousel... as the rules then stated, if the bike leaves  the track ( meaning into the pits / not meaning crashing or O&O) that is the end of the race for that bike... as long as the work is done in hot pit or in this guys case the grass you are still legal to race you just are laps down from the leader..

the guy was able to leave his bike on the track side against the tires, jump the fence, get fuel,  Jump back over the fence, fill his bike, with a cornerworker holding the fire bottle for him and continue racing. he was 3 laps down... The rules refer to the bike and not the rider  and say nothing about who can or can't hold your fire bottle,  nor anything about the location of which you have to refuel or make repairs, making what he did completely legal :)

I don't know what the rules are for TC...  and it has been a few years while since this incident happened... very well has changed.
