Does anyone know if Conti sends out a coupon like Bridgestone, or is it a web based deal? Or do you go to your trackside guy for it?  I should have $175 in contengency, and was just wondering if anyone could poiont me in the right direction.

So you guys like the Contis? What is the level of your riding? What brands have you used in the past? What suspension changes did you make for the Contis? What was the reason for a change to the Contis?

I am giving it serious consideration.

I'm running conti's as you know, they are very close in shape like pirelli's,i feel the same traction with a little bit stiffer feel.You can be by your self on the grid and get paid!!! no rider limit. 1st,100  2nd  50  3rd  40  4th  30.They do the contengency at the track.Just tell them your results.They also work good on the street when your finished using them on the track.

The reason I'm running Conti's. They are cheaper than everyone else, their no-grid mins is great for lightweight and they feel good...

I didn't have to change my suspension at all. I run a SV650.

I was saying when your finished using them at the track they work good on the street also.Some other brands of tires are not good on the street after using them on the track.I didnt have to adjust my suspension.I have been using pirelli for the last 8 years.And i am on conti's now and they feel almost the same and i like them alotI.If your on a 1000 with 170hp then i dont know if your setup will be different or not.

I cannot give you suspension changes for running them, as I had put new suspenders on right before going to Conti's. I have no baseline.

I am running a Ducati 996, and am playing around in Supertwins. With the low grids, I, too, appreciate their no-minimum grid contengency.

The tires stuck well in my first race (soft/soft) and the second race, we had a distinct drop in air/track temp. I adjusted them down about 2 psi (bad move) and had the rear end walking everywhere on me in race #2.  I felt like Gary McCoy sliding the rear.  Although, I will tell you that the slide was super controlable, and wasn't suprising...very forgiving.

I think alot of my issue is running the soft/soft compounds period on a big bore twin. My next set, I will be going to med/med and I think the change will be better all around. I was also fighting a terrible suspension set-up, and basically had no compression damping in my front end- so this should all be taken with a grain of salt.

I have been running B-stones for the past three seasons. I think the conti's have a bit better initial stick to them vs. the stones, but until I get out there with the suspension dialed in, and on a new set, I don't think you should take this advice as official canon, ya know?!

First impression: cheaper than the rest, good stick, unreal contengency payouts.

Most the people i know use the soft front and medium rear and that is a good combo.

Dunlops are better than Contis.  If ya'll are worried about price, this is the Dunlop tire for you.  $91.99 a piece.  No contingency, but with the low prices you'll wind up saving money.  Rumor is they will last 2 seasons per set.  They double as a rain slick and also stick good when you run off into the grass. They worked for Selbert all season.  I've got a set on my 4x4 Chevy, work great!

Thanks for the input guys. I have been riding and racing on Bridgestone for some time now. I am not the fastest guy out there but I have passed many on Dunlops. The reason I had chosen Bridgestone was mainly for the 18" rear that fits my FZR which no other manufacturer makes. I have won a few regional championships on the Bridgestones and know that all the brands are good.

I have been considreing the Contis mainly because I have been contemplating being a distributor at the local tracks. i will only do that if I have confidence in them myself and give individual tech support for the riders. I have yet to try a set as I am still healing from a broken wrist, but I thought that you could give good feedback and insight to what you have experienced. Mark, I know your level of riding and that gives me a good gauge.

Some other questions:
How many laps of use do you get from a set of tires?

What pressures are you using?

heres my input, and no i dont or ever had run them. They contigency is good for amatures and low grid classes. will you ever see front running experts and amatures run them (with the grids the that are always have enough riders), i doubt it because they will run the tires that pay more. Its a great program they have for the other classes, but your not going to get a huge amount of feedback untill the money goes up on contigency. exp with michelin and perilli paying cash money.

Well I did do a comparison for my own racing program. Injected my race finishes for 2009 and projected a budget from there. The Bridgestone won out over the Michelin.

No I don't expect that the top level expert will run the Conti right away, but I do think if the Contis are what they have reportedly been then it could make the way up the ranks. Ranking as I see it is Dunlop, Pirelli, Michelin, and Bridgestone currently with Conti being the beginner at least here in the US. I know currently Tim Vosnick(an AMA rider) is running them and reports good results, good performance and a tire that will last. He did attain a respectable lap time at Jennings on his new to him Triumph 675.

As far as the future goes they could be like any of the brands that started with not so good tires and are now competitive for the front. Will future fast riders begin using them? Well my guess is if they are as fast as the next tire and cheaper, why not.

I must respect each rider's choice to what tire he/she chooses. I wanted to hear from the guys that have tried them. There are many riders out there racing on take-offs, maybe the Conti could cater to those folks.
