Ive been tossing around the idea of running an AHRMA event or two this season. A questio for those of you in the know:  1999 Ducati 996....Battle of Twins or Sound of Thunder??? Also, is there an AM/EX structure- or is it more or less "show up and race"?

TIA,

Ski

Show up and race.  Do both!  Do one of the battle of the twins, read the rules for which your bike fits into, kind of like Supertwins.  Then do Sound of Thunder...kind of like doing HWSS or something.

Typically, AHRMA events are run at a very slow pace... so you don't have to pick one class, you'll have plenty of time between races.  Also, they don't run a CCS type format at most venues.  Saturday and Sunday both have the same classes and schedule... its like a twin sprint event, but slower between calls.

I really loved the atmosphere at the AHRMA event I did a couple of years ago.  Laid back (and kinda disorganized)  The best is watching some very overweight, very old men cramming themselves into leathers, then posting top speeds of 70mph down the straight at RA on some 1960's 125.  I had an awesome experience.

I had so much fun watching at last years Road America AHRMA event that I'm riding it this year. '81 GPz 550 and maybe an old Beemer.

it was a hoot!!
that 996 runs sound of thunder and Formula 1.   show up and run, no split in am/ex status. fastest times were in the 1:57/8 range from what i saw.  i podiumed twice (3rd) running 2:00-2:03's in Sound of Thunder with an 1125r.  managed a 2nd in Formula 2 with my 98 S1W.  come on in, the water's fine!

Umm, Dave, exactly how fast is shit? Is it a function of what was eaten for dinner?
