i have one of those noisy generators but its usually running tire warmers on 2 bikes. would love a honda or yamaha but $1k+ for a 2000w is hard to justify. found that if you have a pickup truck put it in the bed with the tailgate up. does a great job of blocking the noise. 15-20ft away its hard to hear it running. have used the cardboard box trick too and it works pretty good

Devin,

PBIR did purchase the safety fencing that is out there, mainly prompted by our own Sean D. raising money for the fund. Thanks again Sean. What we have there is a track that is inherently with walls that wouldn't have been an impact area without the situation that happened. If you noticed at the rider's meeting Henry is always asking for input from the riders about where to place the safety fencing. There is only so much of it to go around.

Mark

I understand there is only so much to go around. Thank you Sean for contributing also. I think PBIR is a good place to be except for the walls. The padding just doesn't seem like enough. Speaking of, has anyone heard about Isidro (i think that is his name) from the deal on Sunday? I know that Sanchez and whoever else are relatively ok but last I heard the other guy is still in pretty bad shape. I guess I will check JGP forum. Too bad there is not another track around central'ish Florida that is a safer track (maybe another motorcycle only) that we could spend the major part of the schedule at. Not trying to sound ungrateful for our schedule/tracks, just don't like to see people get hurt so much on these walls.   :ahhh:

Devin,

Every track we have been to have had it's share of catastrophe with either hitting a wall or hitting a tree. I am pretty sure that tree is gone now. It is part of the equation when it come to this hobby. It does not go to say though that improvements can't be made on any track.

Daytona's high bank and close walls(if you dare) can be a very intimidating site the first time you see it, but I think it is part of the allure of racing there. The difference is that I might do 140ish and you can do 160mph on your 600.

I think that maybe Miller is probably the safest track for walls or trees.

Well put Mark. I know everyone out ther has accepted the risk.  I guess we just make the most improvements that we can, and in the meantime have a blast riding.

While we're on the subject of noise, if you start your bike and then blip the throttle for 2 sepereate 20 minute sessions before 6am next year, I'm going to throw a full, unopened can of soda at you and then spray paint a unicorn on your pretty racebike.

:)

Are you channeling DaveK from the WERA BBS?

Do or do not, there is no "try".

Graham

For all you guys that think its part of the sport....hit a wall then let me no how you feel.Ya they had a soft barrier up in a none impact area but i managed to hit the wall 100ft away from it.Maybe i woudnt be hurt so bad if it was in a impact area. :banghead:If there is more than 2 or 3 rounds there next year for Florida region,I wont be.

DEVINC

I guess it's hard to understand what it feels like to hit the wall like Brad did. How are you holding up Brad?

Graham

Iam holding up Devin, little by little getting better just going to take a little time. All i am saying is the track doesnt leave any room for error.Running in the teens there, you wreck you hit wall period. And if you dont then thats the miracle.

DEVINC

That is good to hear that you are getting better. I guess the best solution for PBIR would be airfence (as would a lot of other places). I agree that it does have more sketchy places than not. I am not trying to point fingers at anybody or anything, as I do not have an solution to it, and all of us that race there, choose to. Just saying and discussing.  :blahblah:

Ducmarc

i haven't rode on the new track just the old one. but the the new looks more dangerous than the old pit.  it's the only track in fl with zero electricity

no tree was cut down.. one tree was not the problem, it was the fact the rider decided to ride it out for hundreds of feet rather than lay it down or bail off. totoally unfortunate situation, but there was lots of run off room to make a decision.
At pbir you have no time to make a decision in a few danger areas. If you crash you will hit a wall or hopefully airfence long before you slow down. Racers need to take EXTRA SPECIAL CARE to ride a bit more reserved in these areas on the track to limit the chance of a crash or bumping someone off.
