Should I share with him your learning curve in regards to gas consumption?   ;D

Dawn   ;)

DiDiMaO

Dawn,

he already knows all about it.  $70 lesson learned very well.  I positive I won't have that problem for the rest of the season.  But thanks for the reminder!  Ike has already told me he was going to personally ask me before the race from now on.  Yeah I guess I need a babysitter.

Thanks Dawn!!!!

After I told my wife about what happened this weekend, she is making sure she's there at RA to remind me.  Also,  I made a label as you suggested and posted it on the triple clamps.  Thanks for the advice.

Hey Ike!  DiDiMaO Baby!!!!!.......

NO DOUBT, BIG BABY  !!!
40. Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate, but powerful beyond measure. We were all meant to shine, as children do. When our light shines, we liberate others.

Hey Tony!  Was great meeting you - I'm glad we had a chance to talk on Thursday.  See you at RA!
CCS AM 815... or was that 158?

Super Dave

You using stock gearing on that Kaw?

A 600 needs a little bit of rev's to keep them going.  I hear all these big numbers for how many rev's you need to have...  Some seem pretty high.

Free thoughts...

When I've mounted on bike cameras on my bikes, 600's lately, seldom do my rev's go lower than 8800 RPM's.  They might go as low as 8200 on some occasions in some corners.

Gearing is important on a 600.  But lean angle is too.  If you're not comfortable with the track and you're not leaning it in, you're not going to be on the smaller circumferance of the tire.  That's like a gearing change all on it's own.

Second gear is good for 1, 3D, 4, 6, & 7 at Blackhawk.  First is pretty much unuseable on a production based street bike except for the start.

I think gearing on the 6R is like 16/40 stock?  You might need a 43 on back or a 15/41.  Something along that line.  What do you have now?

That seems right to me S_D...let's explore this a bit.

Remember I said on exits.  If your tach almost never drops below 8.2K, and I assume that is in the early to middle of the corner near the apex, than on exit (defined by me as the point where you are standing the bike up and getting on full throttle) I assume you are spinning at 10K+?

I want it to be screaming at the exit.  Higher than 10k.  Lowest RPM would be at the apex when I'm finally off the brake and getting back on the gas.  Usually, I won't be as low at 8200.  Maybe bogging in the middle of the carousel at Blackhawk in third, yes, otherwise I'm higher.  Maybe I can get Jack "photo god" to bring my Blackhawk video from a couple of years ago.  That might give some better insight.

The apex is the slowest portion of the corner where the rider is cutting the tightest radius of the corner.  So, it should be the slowest.  Making sense?

DiDiMaO

Thanks SD!  What you say makes sense.  I was using 14/40 at BHF first race weekend.  Really my first time on the bike on the track  with the new bike.  last year I ran a ducati and between the bikes it's like night and day difference.  My problem at BHF was I wasn't keeping the revs up high enough to get the drive out of the corners and my starts sucked bad.  All week I've been practicing so I hope I have a better showing at RA and BHF in May.  Thanks for all your input.

Hey Tony:

Is that your little girl on your site?  She's a cutie!

Dawn   :)
Paul and Dawn Buxton

DiDiMaO

Yeah Dawn!

She's daddy's little girl on her 2003 KFX50.  Gotta get them started young.  Future CCS Champion.

Renee said to me at BHF that she picked me to bug this year since Rhiannon is gone.  Is that good?  Rhiannon did very well last year.  Maybe Renee is a good luck charm!  See you at RA.
