I am doing my National Guard weekend and am missing the first Blackhawk races.  Can anyone give me an update on what kind of race conditions people are dealing with??
Is there ice? I'm just north and the roads are terrible. I couldn't imagine racing on this stuff....

Well, on the subject....
there were some spots that looked like ice, but they werent really on the race line, so i didnt test em ;D
the 4 days i was there were just c c cuh cold... *mixed with "off and on" wet :P
sat. and sunday were all but dry and we squeezed in all 16 races by 3pm in order to duck the threatened snow storm...
slippery due to cold, but some adjusted and picked up to a nice pace..
(i personally adjusted on sunday, but shouldve just stayed with the rains)(we live/learn)
Hey, thurs. & Fri. were my first two days away from work in 2003, i bit the bullet, but im laughing last,
cuz i done got me a fix!!!

Honey, I'm Home......

Much like her TLR, Kim's slow to post. ;D ;D

Ike, you really need sliders on your shoulders as much as you hang off. :o I would had kept Kim behind me today in hwss if I had 250 more cc's. F2's only go so fast down the front straight. ;D

Hey Ike
Thanks for the leasons that you taught me in Thunderbike it was a real treat to be able to learn from you in that race. It helped a lot in my other races, Oh and by the way thanks for the deal. ;D

The salt on the track in turn 3 was a bit disconcerting, but the track had a surprising amount of grip.

There were many people out there on Rains, and I went out on medium compound dunlop slicks & ran low 17's...

I'm told Gordon hit 14's...

The track is going to be incredible with some heat in it.  Can't wait!

What an AWESOME weekend!!!!  Every day was better than the day before.  Funny how everything just "felt better" as we passed through the gate and drove into the paddock area... and I'm happy that everyone arrived safely despite the freezing rain/snow on Thursday night.

Shackin' up and keeping warm with my "adopted family"...   K3, Dave and Joe, I'm sorry that dinner Saturday didn't work out as planned (John needs his "regular feedings" ::), and I think we were both a little tired).  We'll definitely try that again next time!

As a result of Super Dave "magic tuning" my suspension, my TLR handled beyond my wildest dreams.  What happened to the baby whale I was wrestling last year?  The bike did everything I asked, and begged for more.  I am SO looking forward to growing to the point that I can REALLY tap into its potential.

Extra-extra-EXTRA special thanks to my new friend from Iowa who shared his tire warmers on Sunday - OHMYGOODNESS!!!  My tires were sticky and sweet as licorice loops that had been left in the oven.  I will never race without warm, comfy tires again.

Oh my little Ooompa... You're gonna need a lot more than HP if you think you're gonna stay in front of me.    :-*  I managed to bump my "personal best" laps from last year TWICE without even thinking about it.

Let's see... what's the score?

Kim:  2
Rob:  0

Ding, ding!   Round 3 at Road America... can I talk you into running HWSS on Saturday, too? ;D

Speaking of not-so-pretty starts, my apologies for the flub-up in the GTO on Saturday.  I wasn't expecting the front end to come up quite so high, and couldn't get the clutch in quickly enough to keep the motor running.  We won't let that happen again.  As soon as the snow melts, John and I will be playing "race grid" on the launch pad in front of the house.

Ike - Watching you fly thru the carousel flat-out horizontal was simply inspirational.  You're my hero!

Three weeks to Road America - YIPPEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
CCS AM 815... or was that 158?

Chef

 ;D

you guys are too nice !
like Kim, All my pain went away when we payed the 5 buck to enter on wednesday nite  ;D
K3 said it, Christmas in April  ;D  you all have to forgive me (if you dont understand my enthusiasm)
the rain and cold was just enough to settle me down on thurs. and fri. enough
to be close to calm for saturday.... how'd you guys like my nuetral start in gtu?
that was a first!
And the hangin off part?,  MAN, I was so waitin all winter (like the rest of you) i just couldnt get off far enough
;D i wanted to drag my back protector if i could !!!  i was so "starving" to get back on the track (as i am in the same state again)

Shout to Acapelo (MY MAN, Rest Easy Big Baby!!!)

anyway, Thanks you guys for the kudos!
but you can thank the Racing Gods, cuz whatever you picked up from me, was freely given to me last season from most the same people you see here, and will see at the track each and every weekend.
i was stumped the first time this BIG Scarey lookin fella took me under his wing last years opener at gateway (as a stranger), we call him K3.....
and to trip me out more, the list grew by leaps and bounds, and i can only thank everyone for even as small as sayin hello, because the more accepted you are the more comfy you'll be on the track, but i can count tools borrowed,
and Floater giving me parts up at the first Road-A (as a stranger) and worse than that plopped a cigar in my mouth and handed me a beer after the day was over....... i got a million stories.....but i gotta get to work !!!
