At Gateway the ambulance rolled Sunday for a crash out of the chicane in GTU. We were pitted down there and I watched to see who it was. When they picked up the upper with 62 on it I knew it was Devan. seeing the ambulance roll away was not a good feeling. I talked to Gurley who was right behind Dion and he said you could almost hear the air come out of him when he hit, the impact was so hard.

Needless to say I was surprised as hell to see Devan roll past me on the grid and tap me on the shoulder, on a borrowed bike less than 2 hours later. Dude is a beast.  Hope you are feeling OK man.

I think he landed pretty hard on his right foot. He got some serious head shake coming through the chicane and got bucked.  The second bike is his 08 R6.  Pretty much stock, and un-sorted.  He is def. a champ for hanging in there the way he did!

Ouchy-mamma, I'm one sore fugger.

I tell ya, That is not the way I wanted to debut my new-to-me bike.

GTU
I think this was the first time I was able to be in the lead for as many laps with Jimmy behind me. 3-4 I think. I knew he was on my tail and I was doing my best to hold him off but just could not keep up the pace. Once he got by me, I let him go and just concentrated on my own pace. I was able to maintain a good gap between me and 3rd and was looking for the crossed flags which seemed to take forever. As the race went on I looked back once in a while to get an idea of the gap and didn't see anyone so I let up a little to reserve myself. I got mixed up in some traffic, which killed my gap, and when I got some clear space, I looked back and 830, I think(orange bike), was on my ass. Crap, gotta push... By this time there was about 4 laps left and I put my head down.

Now here is the part that gets me, Usually when I am coming out of the chicane leaned over and starting to stand up, I will catch a gear and the front will dance a little, No problem...
On my last exit of the chicane, headed for the white flag, I don't know what happened. It was so fast... All I remember is going Into the chicane and ending up getting bucked H A R D. I don't think I hit the curbing because I would of been in the wall so it has to of been the transition that got me. I don't think I was at my shift point yet.

Last thing I remember was trying get up on my knees and paws and trying to catch my breath.
I looked up and saw bikes going around me and hoping I wouldn't get tagged by another rider.
I looked back to find my bike laying on the ground next to the inner wall about 50-75 yards down track. Crap...

Who ever it was behind had to have a good show, I want to know what they saw happen.
If anyone saw it happen, Please tell me. If anything so I know what to avoid or improve...

As for my injuries, one mucked up left ankle, bruise on my chest(maybe a cracked rib?), a bruised right hip and a mild concusion.
My '01, needs a new front end. So out comes "the back-up" bike.

My new-to-me bike, I got it back in late May, early June, and never even rode it.
It is a bone stock '08 R6 without even a scratch and 7,500 street miles.
Found it on Creig's List for $6,900 and couldn't pass this one up...

I was hoping to get it sorted out on track days and debut it next year. So much for that idea.
Saturday afternoon was the first time I rode it, only 2 sessions.

In race 7, I let peeps go ahead and got acclimated with it, bone stock, unadjusted, un-sagged susspension and all.
Once I knew what I had, I forged on and managed to pick a couple of riders off an get a 4th or 5th place finish.
In races 12 and 16, I was hurting bad so I let everyone go and just did some laps for points.

I want to thank Jerry, Colby, Tom, Kuhns and everyone else not mentioned for their help in getting me back "on my feet"
Without them, my day would have been done...

BTW, this was the first time my "Biker" friends came to a race to support me and watch some racing.
Needless to say, they were impressed... Thanks for coming out guys.

Gurley #118 told me you were on the gas and your back tire hopped up in the air when you hit the transition and landed cross ways which proceeded to high side you.

thats the third hand  story. heal up fast, I will see you at HPT.

you may as well get going on that 08 now. We already know how to make the exhaust  :thumb:

Thanks Tim. I knew someone had to of seen it.

I'll be looking for those pipes for sure... :thumb:

It will be a while B4 the '01 is track worthy again so a new shock and some fork springs will be ordered for the '08 this week.

BTW, I was planning on keeping the '01 as a back up for next year, not the other way around... :banghead:

That thing is a totally different animal for sure.
Even riding like a brick I was able to go though the Goat Trail, and other turns, much faster.
Wow, just Wow...

I'll be at HPT for the Pridmore school.
I originally wanted to work on some things with the '01 at the track that gives me probs.
Now I gotta do it on a Dif bike. Aww shit...
