There were 170 riders this weekend that rode in 105 separate practice and race events!

Over all 8,173 laps were completed with an average z-score lap time of 1 min 51 seconds.

That's 20,432.5 miles of racing with a ruff average of 120 miles completed per rider...

Amateur #175 Eric Smith completed the most number of laps at 147.

Hey Krishna,

That really sucks about having to go with manual scoring for the TC and GT races on Friday.

The frustrating thing was discovering the reason why the timing system went down on Friday.......  personal lap timer beacons!!!!!!

There were two beacons placed on the pit wall below the starter's bridge sitting directly over the antenna for the timing loop.  Even though the two systems operate on completely different technology, the signal from the beacons was enough to overpower the timing loop system!!!

For Saturday we layed down a separate temporary antenna and everything was working fine until we got to the ASRA qualifying sessions.  Somebody put out a beacon on top of the temporary loop again and it almost wiped out the qualfying times!!  Kevin Elliott went looking for what had changed and saw the beacon sitting there.  He turned the beacon off - we started getting good hits.  He turned the beacon on, we got garbage on the timing system!!

Lesson learned........  if you ever put out a timing beacon check to see where the antenna loop is located for the track and keep your beacon at least 100 feet (or more) away from the loop.  If you don't it could ruin everybody elses day!!!!

Hey Burt,
Thanks for the info! That did suck. But oh well. Glad we learned this lesson. This learning should probably posted more prominently with an appropriate subject title and sticky note so everyone gets to see it.
