OK, that is helpful.  Does anybody know if the new turn 1&2 will require dramatically different gearing vs. what could be carried on the old front straight?  Last year at HPT I just used BHF gearing and it was fine.  I am  worried that I may end up a bit undergeared on the new configuration.

We were using BHF gearing on Hernans 90 hp SVs to start, and as far as straightaways go we were just fine. For our set up it put the bike between gears in a few places so we changed it around. But on a duc I think BHF gearing is  good place to start. HPT front straight is longer than BHF but the corner leading onto it is much, much slower. (1st gear at HPT on my R1 as opposed to I think 3rd gear at BHF)

George,
I ran 16/42 on my 1000ss in april.  Just barely saw 8K in 6th over the top of the hill.  Given your HP and close-ratio tranny, I'd expect 16/38 to be about right for you.
