I wanted to know how long would it be before things like yamaha's new firing order and traction control(to be standard) on production bikes would take?  I know Ducati's already come with t.c., but I was interested in owning a bike with t.c. and having a place to live.

The new R1 has the firing order, but new firing orders aren't new.  Big bang 500 GP bikes worked well years ago.  H-D has had "twingles" for years too.  Passive TC already exists within ECM's.  GSXR1100's had a form of it back in the late 80's or whatever year it was that they went to the big cc engine.

TC is still available in one's right hand at no extra charge.

I couldn't find anything from Yamaha, but I did find a vid from Europe pertaining to this very issue.  It's in German, but has subtitles, and talks about the trickle-down timeline.  ...Hope this is what you needed, bro!

You mean its white guy from the u.k. who sounds like luther vandross, with horrible dance moves.

Ski, you are going to have to make up a fake screen name and try it then. You will have to live forever knowing that I got you last :spank:

PS the Ducati traction control on the 1098R does not work for racing.

It was designed for use with the street tires- once you switch tires, the sizes change and the algorithm is all wrong. It screws up everything and cuts the ignition when the bike is going down the straights.....it's like trying to ride with a loose spark plug lead or something.

I've ridden 3 1098Rs on the track now, all have the TC turned off.
