I know it's not real racing, but we went to see the Monster Energy Supercross here in Jax. last Sat.
We watch it on TV when possible, being a former Moto Cross racer etc.
We enjoyed the heck out of it.
It was a great battle until Reed tired out.
Curious if anyone else watches that kind of thing.

Jackass reporter wrote in the paper that "motocross drivers aren't fast because of a heavy foot, and that Reed and Stewart are the two top drivers in AMA Ssupercross."
A friend wrote the editor and let em have it about their ignorance, Roadracing in America has a similar problem with the ignorant and brainwashed news ghouls.

i do watch supercross.  i think it's a great series.

moreso, it's a fun winter activity to watch with my wife because we're stuck in the house anyway.  she'll get all caught up in the action/drama with reed/stewart, and can usually point out all the other top runners.

it also gives her an excuse to point out how little the "track-ho's" are wearing...  :)

I used to follow Supercross closely - Actually I raced a few Supercross races back in my dirt heyday(00'-01')..... I think I've seen one race on tv this season - This road racing thing takes up too much of my time :)

I'm actually surprised at how Reed is able to hang on to Stewart this season - Well that or Stewart has backed it down a notch so that he can keep the bike upright more....

I remember watching Stewart on an 80 - He was sooo much faster then everyone else that he never rode at 100% - And thus - Never really fell off...

30 sec. boards are good.

Never cared for it until I bought a dirt bike- I just couldn't relate.  Now my wife and I watch every race. Great way to pass the winter. I also read previously ignored dirt bike reviews in Cycle world. Going MX'ing tomorrow - it's a hell of a lot of fun and WAY cheaper than road racing.

Tim, buying a subway franchise is cheaper than road racing.

Supercross is definitely awesome to watch this year.  The back story to it all is also great to spectate.  Who's team was who's, who stole who's sponsors.  Watching makes me want to buy a dirt bike, and maybe race it. Somewhere my wife is rolling her eyes.

I concur -  Look at how nice and tacky that dirt looks :)

I beg to differ about the real racing. I thought I was a fairly good bike rider until I bought a dirt bike. I went to Sunset Ridge yesterday, which btw is a fantastic track, and realized that I suck on the dirt. I watched with awe as good riders managed the track with such ease. - it's like watching Jensen back it into turn one - just cool. I struggled all day with a step-up that left me just a bit short. I hit it ten times in a row over two sessions. It's definitely real riding, lots of technique to learn- gotta keep the momentum or I'll just end up short. Trying to do all of your accelerating up the jump just makes for an aweful launch and a painful landing.

Maybe I should invest all this free time into something more productive... like a Subway - you want chips with that?

You know it's kind of a joke about the real racing thing right?
Stewart landed short on a triple right in front of us, I thought that was it for him, but he got his breath back and prevailed.
Lots of respect for these guys, even the nascar guys, any form of motorsports.
Remember, dirt's for growin potato's etc.

Yeah, I got it. It just looks a heck of a lot easier on tv. Then I tried it....
